The Perfect Lap?

Unread post by Thunderbird53 »

Noticed that the TT homepage has the sector by sector perfect lap for a solo: https://www.iomtt.com/TT-Database/TT-Re ... ctors.aspx

There doesn't seem to be (to my searching) a similar table for the perfect Sidecar lap, sector by sector?

I'm not sure if this has come up before, but I was wondering has anyone done this? Or has anyone the data to work it out?

The solo readout makes for interesting reading, so I'm sure the sidecar one would too.

Anyone able to help, or curious to know this as well?

Thanks
Josh

I'm away at the moment but it sounds an interesting project when we get home if nobody else has started on it

Hi John, I can tell you the fastest sector times from this years 2 races which were overall lap records but sadly not having access to the sector times from the last few years I cant say for sure if they are the fastest ever sectors.

Given the Birchall's pace I would imagine they set fastest ever sector times but cant say for sure.

Despite the overall solo lap record constantly increasing Steve Plater's fastest sector from Ramsey to the Bungalow stood for 9 years until it was finally beaten in 2018. With this in mind it's possible that previous sector records for sidecars could still stand.

I'll look into it as it would be a great bit of information to have.

I think you're probably right Adam but wouldn't know for sure. The one person who might be able to help would be Phil Wain, he's a real stat expert - he would be the man to check with.

My thoughts exactly after Birchall's blistering pace. But as previous years show. There is the potential for people to have gone quicker even just in one sector as no doubt set up is an overall compromise and driver styles etc?
