Mountain course licence update

Unread post by steve-e »

So, now it's still 6, but multiday meetings count for up to 2 days on the same permit.

And 2 have to be in the same season - so that's a two day meeting in March most likely ;)
Is the cut off date still the same, end of March?

Don’t want to hijack your post here Steve, but . . . . . .seeing as silly season has officially started.. . . . .

Must thank Helen for her clarification in respect of the changes to the Mountain Course Licence qualification, But !!!! isn’t there one other important change that needs to be made ?

As I recall it, the licence was introduced not as another ACU fad, but at the request of the insurers by way of making sure that TT circuit riders were regular competitors and not just TT/MGP specialists or “holiday racers” as some have said.

The point being: If a rider attends a race meeting, practices, qualifies, races . . . .but breaks down during the race following a majority of laps completed, how in heavens name can this not be counted as a bona fide ‘signature’ qualifying ride, have you not fully demonstrated that you are indeed a regular competitor ?

It is, after all, all about proving that you got off your backside and went and raced you bike . . . .

Question . . . . how do we get this senseless rule changed ?
I don’t regret the things I did wrong, I do regret the things I did right. . .for the wrong people !

No... read it all...

The qualification period for each event runs at 13 months expiring on the 9th of May for the Isle of Man TT Races and 30th of June for the Classic TT Races and the Manx Grand Prix Races.

Fortunately we have a couple of years to figure this out but...

If we are lucky, our first race of the season might be run before the 9th of May. Circuits don't seem too keen on hiring snow plows so we can race earlier in the season. Also our F2 will have to be in a crate on it's way back to the UK by the end of March (making it difficult to be racing it here in May). So I guess I better hang on to my F1 as well and pray our first race of 2015 runs before May 9th. (Or just hope they change the rules again by then?)

Chris

PS sent an email to the ACU, interested to see what their response will be.
