The Dave Wells Trophy

Unread post by sarah wells »

Hi everyone

It gives me great pleasure to announce that the ACU and the TT organisers have very kindly agreed to have a trophy in memory of Dad.

The trophy will be awarded to the highest placed newcomer passenger in the Sidecar TT Races.

As most of you will be aware, Dad took many a newcomer passenger under his wing especially at the TT.
He loved going on the newcomer bus trips, telling stories about picking flowers for Roy and which corners to work and not to work depending on where there could be a photographer. He often said he wasn’t sure if anyone learnt anything from the bus trip but he hoped they would at least ease some nerves at least.

Joking aside he was always on hand to offer any advise he could and by his own admission he couldn’t tell anyone how to win the TT but he could hopefully give enough knowledge to get them round safely. He also said newcomer passengers deserve rewarding for their hard work.

Thank you to Gary Thompson , Bruce Baker, Paul Phillips, Lloyd Mister , Richard from SB trophies, Sir Uncle Roy Hanks and our sidecar fairy god mother Pat Hamblin for making Dad’s wish come true.

I know Wellsy will be disappointed that he can’t be there but I also know he will be filled with same pride he felt every year for every TT competitor

Wishing you all a happy and safe TT

Love

Sarah

A fitting tribute to a well liked and well respected man and I'm sure he would approve, I'm sure he is up there watching over everyone and here's wishing everyone a safe and successful TT.

A great tribute, although I did wonder if it might be awarded to 'The Passenger Who Moved Least Over Two Races' . :notworthy:

I'm gutted I won't be able to win it

Dave will be with me having an energy gel before I go out and watching my back while i'm out there.

Whoever wins this trophy will be honoured.

Thanks Helen, It was the least I could do really after all the love and support the sidecar family have given me over the last few months.

I collected the trophies today and Richard from SB trophies has done a fantastic job on them.

I hope they do justice to the hard work that competitors put in to the sport.

Thank you everyone for all the lovely message as well

Sarah
