Quite a few of the forum categories are accessible by usergroup.
To see these forums click on the user control panel next to memberlist up the top, select the usergroups from the menu on the left.
Click the bullets on the groups you want to join, then submit.
Most of the categories are auto join so you will be in straight away.
A couple of them require approval from the group moderator. Once they've seen you've asked to join they will then accept or deny access.
