TT REPS IN THE ATTICK.
Does anyone want / collect these? Ive set myself a target of another ride at the TT next year. It will be 10 years since my last ride there and I wont be 60
. First I need to get a bike and get out and prove to myself that I can still do it. Thats where the Reps come in. I dont think Ill get the finance together quickly enough and hopefully they may,may not speed up the process. Theres the winning pair along with the two fastest lap reps. Theres a pair of 2nds,1 x 3rd, the other went to a good cause, 2 x 4th, 4 x 5th, 2 x 6th, 1 x 7th, 1 x 8th, 2 x 9th, Silver. 1 X 10TH, 1 X 12TH and A 1962 Junior and 1964 Sidecar , Bronze. I could drip feed these on Ebay but I thought the exposure the site now has it might be more benificial to put this on here. When I won the first reps in 89 they were like treasure . They still mean a lot but if they can assist with another ride at the TT it would mean much more now.I had someone get in touch a while ago (a collector ?) but Ive lost the contact now. If anyone is ,or knows anyone who may be interested please get in touch.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Re: TT REPS IN THE ATTICK.
I think that could possibly flood the market Geoff
If you want help I can put some feelers out or just post on the front here and then get the news spread as far as possible.
TT reps do seem to command a good value compared to others from previous experience.

Re: TT REPS IN THE ATTICK.
Geoff, that's a fantastic collection that you should be very very proud of. Don't sell them, you will regret it. Get them out of the attic and on display. Look at them every day and remind yourself of your fantastic achievements and the hard work and sacrifice to get them. You can never replace them. Nobody else is entitled to have these other than your own descendants. Find another way to fund your next TT exploits.....

Re: TT REPS IN THE ATTICK.
Woa! Woa! Winnie, nobody's saying it wouldn't be great to see Geoff out again, just that's not the route. What happens in another few years when this comeback is over and all record of his previous achievements are gone. I'm not suggesting he can't achieve even more, but that only adds to his previous, it doesn't replace them. His descendants hopefully would love to have them, if not an NEMCRC memorial collection....long legs wrote:if there in a box in the attic, then there obviously not that important to you (well i;m sure they were one day)

Re: TT REPS IN THE ATTICK.
Beryl, I knew of a lot of your dad's story but not the last bit, so sorry to hear that of one of my boyhood heroes. What a way to end a very fulfilling life. However, I live with the hope that it doesn't happen and I guess at this, but I think and hope that the majority of people are more fortunate than your dad. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Geoff back out on an outfit and I think with his experience he would still be able to get round the IOM very quickly indeed. However, I think more strongly that Geoff's descendants are the one's who should inherit his trophies. In fact I cannot imagine why anyone else would desire them, though I've no doubt there will be some collector who will. How can someone who hasn't earned them, want them, other than to set up something in say a local museum, dedicated to Geoff. Long live Geoff to appreciate them.Beryl wrote:I'm with Winnie on this one. You've got to live life!!!!! And I understand where you coming from Bill, but look what happened to my Dad, (Fred Hanks) he did so many things with his life (apart from having 6 kids!!), had a pilots licence, took part in horse show jumping, edited the TT Special newspaper, he won loads of trophies and reps for not only sidecar racing, for speedway, grasstracking, and trials. But as he got older, and realised he wasn't fit enough any more, he couldn't sit back and remember the good all days because he developed alzheimers, and very little, meant anything to him.

Beryl, I forgot to mention, are all your dad's trophys still in the Hanks family, don't answer that....I truly hope so.....Bill Lymburn wrote:Beryl wrote:I'm with Winnie on this one. You've got to live life!!!!!
