Could be the Ex Eddy Wright,Stu Digby built Imp,best ask Eddy.
Not the first one I have seen with the engine leant backwards,Peter Alleborne used to race one with the engine titlted backwards. You can be certian, that if it is the Stu Digby bike, then there will be a very good reason for it.

Keeps the carbs away from the dirt. Remember at the first ever Carnaby meeting , end of 72, the short straight between the Esses was loose gravel. This was the first try out event to see how things went. Stu Applegate decided that it was too risky so went home after practice. The old man and me won both races as a result. His Imp had the engine tilted forward in the normal fashion.

I am pretty sure there is more to it than just keeping the carbs from sucking crap in.I would have thought that having the crank, and its recipricating mass closer to the front wheel would alter how the bike stopped and steered?
Anybody in the know care to give us the answers?

Bryan Rust had one with the engine tilted back but in his case the engine also was part of the frame....As well as moving the weight of the crank forward it angles the inlet ports down which maybe beneficial to breathing....

Although the ports are tilted down, unless you want the carbs sticking in your chin, you have to fit a long curved inlet manifold which will not do much for the breathing.
I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it would make him faster.
It just made him more sluggish.

Not sure that`s Digby`s outfit - could be! Looks more like an original KGB except for the swinging arm posts. Digby bought Kurt`s original KGB, but he junked/sold the chassis (to Charlie Kilduff, Andy Smith`s brother-in-law) and built his own, which was little like the original, except for the rear leaning engine. Yes, Damien and Nancy did buy that `bike (from Eddie). Think they`ve regretted it ever since! Jon Perkins and Peter Allebone`s imp had an upright engine, by the way. That went to Dick Hawes.
