R I P Brian Toombs
Heard this afternoon Brian had passed away Brian started racing sidecars late in life and came to me to build him a new bike, his ambition and driving force was to beat his talented and experienced brother Eddy He won quite a few class wins and said to me he wishes he had started a lot earlier. Eddy will miss him irritating him and Trevor will miss his driver, and I will miss his regular chats and dry wit.
RIP Brian
Condolonces to his family and friends.

Only chatting to Brian a few weeks ago at Donnington and although unwell he was upbeat so this has come as a shock.
Brian was always enthusiastic and friendly and will be missed in our circles.
Sincerest condolences to Eddie and the family.

Re: R I P Brian Toombs
I am very sad to hear this news.... My thoughts and love go to Mary, family and Eddie.
Brian very kindly took me under his wing one weekend at Cadwell park a couple of years ago when I stood in for Trevor who was unable to passenger that weekend. I was a rookie still trying to learn my trade, and although I still learn every lap I complete today I have very fond memories of Brian and that weekend. What stands out in my mind are... The big nod and grin from Brian at the top of the goose neck as to when to move for the left.... Hours of laughter in his van shivering from the cold drinking shots of brandy/whiskey..... Bran making a fuss of my kids climbing all over his BMW.... I will miss Brian...

I had a chat with Brian at Donington he was unwell, but on par with his character was looking forward to next season. I loved his dry wit, and sense of mischief.
I will miss him. Sidecar characters are special, and we have lost another from the Island. RIP Mate.

Re: R I P Brian Toombs
First met Brian at Val de la Vienne, when Eddie was a passenger, for the first time, on his BMW. Our friendship continued, meeting in various Countries, for a laugh and a joke and a 'wee dram.' Met up in the Isle of Man, this year and went out for a meal after the races were over, in Castletown. He was very optimistic about treatment and was looking forward to the future with a smile. Such a sad shock. Sincere condolences to all the family. RIP Brian, we'll miss you. xx Carolyn & Jeff Buckley, France.

Re: R I P Brian Toombs
so sad to read this news. I had my first experience on a classic at Gedinne with him (in 2009).
We had some discussions and I remembered him racing at Silverstone last year for the crmc race of the year (october 2012). Will miss him in the paddock ... Another member of our group who left the Earth too early. R.I.P. Brian
