Does anyone out there happen to know of or seen a picture of a Vintage sidecar with Square Tubing on it some where? Any help would be great! Thanks in advance!

It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!

Im not sure, without checking, but I remmember reading about Terry Harrison(Chris Vincents former passenger).Racing a mini engined outfit in 1969,and Im sure the picture of it in the article showed the chassis having been construced of box section.Dont know if this is far back enough for you?

Re: Square tubing
I was certainly using RHS(rectangular hollow section) in 1972 to make swinging arms. Was strong and easy to work with...!! Again possibly not far back enough...!!!tonybsa2008 wrote:Im not sure, without checking, but I remmember reading about Terry Harrison(Chris Vincents former passenger).Racing a mini engined outfit in 1969,and Im sure the picture of it in the article showed the chassis having been construced of box section.Dont know if this is far back enough for you?

Sam Hamilton had a very short BSA outfit at Crimond in 73. It was made of square tubing.

Dam! Was a 50/50 as to whether it was the Halec or the Scitsu. Certainly remember Phil Biggadyke riding - uses a Triumph twin motor laying almost flat with Philips fuel injection?

Ian, the next time Tony Dawson's about, get him to tell you the story about the fuel injectors and what he did at Cadwell!

Re: Square tubing
Hi Jim / Nick,
Yes i still own the Scitsu. The Cadwell story is quite a good one. But from Jon & Tony there are many !!! The one complaint Tony had after it's restoration, when they paraded at Retford Sidecar Festival many moons ago, was that I did't re-fit the 60 grade "EMERY" tape to the ONLY hand holds, (behind drivers head) as he knew in its day it was the only way to make the hand holds useable due to oil !!!!!!!!!!!!
