There's a few more whose names I have not added for various reasons. Organisers quite happy with the numbers... if you look at the solo classes, maybe 12 more. If people don't want to do it, we can't make them. Let's enjoy what we have and be a bit more positive. Quality, folks, not quantity, is what matters.

Helen, your quite right, you cant make people do it,the entry levels were fine for over 90yrs till they changed the entry rules, and now this is the result,if your saying 12 more solos, your talking possible entries of less than 60,thats crap, the wonderful showpiece is going to be boring for the spectator, the ACU are going to have to change something or its getting close to the end

talk about bring back the crowds! how about bring back the competetor!

Maybe the powers that be should be careful what they wish for. Quality, yes but to what extent? How many 'quality' crews are out there? 5, 10, 20? Below what figure would the race not be viable? 40, 30?Helen Gibson wrote:There's a few more whose names I have not added for various reasons. Organisers quite happy with the numbers... In my own personal opinion, any crew that does the qualifying time and continues to improve is of sufficient 'quality' to race. It's all very well attracting 'quality' and 'star names' but without suffiucient numbers there won't be a race.
I think most of us on this forum who have an interest in the TT know why numbers are declining. I wonder if others care enough about the class to try to arrest the decline.
So how long have I had these voices in my head, I hear you ask?

The answer to the depleted Grid Geoff is as we all know down to money. It's no good the quality teams being allocated most of the budget at the expense of the other competitors, and as you say if they qualify! Then that's quality enough.
Far better for the TT if we have 70/80 qualifers racing than the situation we have now. Sidecar TT racing will finish very soon if things are not equalled out, and as for the chance of a replica! well as you say there's always e-bay.

Re: The TT number list 2011
I'm trying to remain positive but I am seriously concerned about the skinny grids this year. I have today bought the programme, a waste of £12 in my opinion but that's another story, and the reduced size of the grids has come as something of a shock to me. It's now probable that there will be less than 50 sidecars lining up on the grid in Race 1 a week on Saturday. That is a massive shame as far as a I'm concerned. Is it the economy or is there an underlying issue that's keeping the crews away?
Bearing that in mind, consider the Supersports entry, it's possibly the most popular competitor class in the British Isles but when you include Hutchy's absence it leaves a grid of just 63! Why is that?
Then there's the 'leccy TT, it can only muster 14 entrants. Ummm.
Added to the reduction in practice sessions and the upper limit of 70 starters in all races I'm beginning to feel a bit shortchanged. I'm all for a quality entry but I have to agree with previous opinions that a qualifier is a quality entrant. The headlines and the media this year seem more than ever to be focusing on rally cars, past and present MotoGP stars and VIP hospitality.

Re: The TT number list 2011
Better 9 weeks late than never, after seeing a shoulder surgeon today in antisipation of going under the knife on Monday: all things going well I'll be back out with Gaz at the Southern. In the meantime my fingers and every thing else crossed you can get a good couple of finishes together, we need the dollor to charge on with getting signatures for next year.
The main thing is you have a great time and good n (fast) safe ride mate, that goes for the every one out there!
Thanks for stepping in, long legged international party person that you are!
