Derek Jones at Snett
Derek Jones at Snett
I'm looking for some pictures that where posted on the site a while back.
The photo's where of Derek Jones testing at Snetterton, I'm not sure of the year but maybe around 1985? It was mentioned that he may have been testing the first LCR in the UK? Does anyone know where I can find the pictures?
Cheers.

Re: Derek Jones at Snett
Thanks Steve - A big help!
I think this is the bike we are (very) slowly restoring.
If anyone can confirm that this is the bike Derek reversed into the armco at high speed (At Brands, coming onto start straight I think?), then this is indeed the bike we now have (again), with the repaired/rebuilt rear monocoque.
Last time I spoke to Derek about this, he still had the crumpled old rear end behind his shed. Wouldn't let me have it though
It's probably going to be another load of years before we get rouond to sourcing an original fairing and painting it, but If anyone has got any pictures of this bike painted (whilst Derek had it), we would be most grateful to see them.
Just been busy today re-assembling Alain Michel's old Krauser (No.6) to put in it. Finally got all the parts together now.
Maybe.
Here are some pictures:
Darley Moor, 1986, with Phil Coombes at the front. We sold it soon afterwards to London-Lad Chris Baldwin. The bike was in terrible condition when we got it back 18 years later after a lot of hard use and many repairs! After a long week cleaning it up a bit, here it is on 2004: .
And (If we ever got it finished!) here is the engine we'll probably put in it:

Gary, top right pic of Derek & Brian in 1982 on their LCR. I scanned it from the 1982 Motocourse book. Is this a fairing that trevor Ireson made for Derek? Trevor was racing on the GP's but was on one of his short bikes.

Trevor has told me in the past that Brian and he shared the costs of a wind tunnel to develop the fairings.

The same bike in 1985?

I recognize the Daytona pic, Daytona sponsored Derek & Brian on their Weslake as well
Bottom pic, don't recognize that though.

Re: Derek Jones at Snett
No, it's not Derek & Brian in the second pic steve, I altered my post cos I thought it was put up as a pic of them. The post doesn't say it's Derek & Brian, it's not cos the driver of the second pic looks smallish & stocky where as Derek was very tall & thin. Can't make the names out on the leathers either????
