I was passengering for Roy Pike and also riding 305 Honda in the production and 125 Bultaco in the the lightweight race. My regular passenger Jim Mann[now Gristwood and Toms team co ordinator] was passengering for Roy Hanks.
We stayed at Howsdrake holiday camp at Onchan....the nearest place to paradise for fit young lads. It was also the first time I met Eddy Wright

If you tried that now I would have to report you to the R.S.P.B. (Royal Society For Protection Of Bultaco's) :!:

Spent my honeymoon in TT paddock and various places around the island in hotel Thames, often waking up being driven to early morning practice, and other mornings having slept in the paddock being woken up by the first bike to be fired up. Mike Hailwoods 250cc 6cyl Honda. What a fabulous alarm clock !

I remember the 1967 TT. I was only 9 at the time. My dad was sponsoring George Bye in the sidecar class.

The sound of the Honda and MV was something else.

They wouldn't let spectators be that close these days.

Dick, I have a photo of you on the Bultaco at Signpost Corner.

I bet that Bultaco was a handfull up the Mountain Dick. I can remember (just) a photo of a very tall slim Dick Hawes on the grid of the 1967? TT in MCN. He had the number 1 plate that year, with the ex Colin Seeley Matchless :D.

It was the 1969 TT that Dick was number 1. Finished an excellent 6th and the first British machine home.

Hi Garry.

Love to get a copy of the Signpost Corner photo sometime.

You were the very first person to write race reports after the sidecar races, which
were greatly appreciated by everone in the paddock THANKS MATE

Dick

Let me have your email address or home address and I will scan a copy into my computer and send onto you.

When I meet up with Mick Boddice on the odd occasion at Darley Moor the first thing he reminds me of is the race reports and that he has still got them.

Thanks
Gary
