2020 FIM Sidecar World Championship cancelled
From the FIM (thought I should include both releases, this and RKB)
After several attempts to reorganise the 2020 calendar and careful discussions regarding the difficulties caused by the Coronavirus disease (#COVID19) pandemic at the organisational level, the FIM, the promoter RKB-F1/Santander Salt Ltd, the national federations of Croatia, Hungary, Germany, Great Britain, Portugal and the local organisers have been forced to cancel the 2020 FIM Sidecar World Championship.
Roger Body, RKB-F1-Santander Salt Ltd CEO explained: “A disappointing end to what has been a very difficult 3-4 months with so many people working so hard to make the Championship happen.
We can all hope that going into 2021 the roadmap for the future is clearer, and we are able to put together a FIM Sidecar World Championship worthy of the name.
One thing is certain – all the hard work and planning already done will not be wasted. We have a solid relationship and the support of the FIM.”
Jorge Viegas the FIM President said: “Whilst such decisions are always disappointing, the FIM and RKB-F1/Santander Salt Ltd will continue to work together to ensure a strong championship in 2021 so as to provide a positive focus for all parties.
I would like to thank the national federations, organisers, officials, teams, riders and everybody involved for their kind understanding and support during this challenging period.”
