The much anticipated second round of the Marin Cup took place at a very busy weekend of racing at East Fortune 15th/16th July.

This was a record overall entry at the circuit but, more importantly, teams from all around the country responded to the promise of good racing delivered by this competition, resulting in an incredible turnout of sidecars. A full grid of 24 entries was received for the first time in many years. And, although the usual round of mechanical misadventures and racing incidents brought a certain rate of attrition, the overall entry made sure of big grids and fierce competition in every race.

Tim and Tristan Reeves maintained their 100% winning streak in the 2017 Hyundai Heavy Industries British Sidecar Championship at Thruxton at the weekend with another double victory on the Carl Cox Motorsport/Team E-Aide Motorsport Kawasaki. With 14 wins from 14 races, their championship lead has now extended to a massive 137 points.

Having topped the timesheets in free practice by half a second, the Kent brothers duly took pole position on Friday afternoon with a time over a second quicker than nearest rivals Chris Walker/Ashley Hawes although the wet conditions meant they were unable to get closer to their time set earlier in the day.

The ultra-fast Thruxton circuit is always a great leveller, and particularly hard on passengers with its never-ending right handed bends. Three races on the programme would put seventy-five points on the table, but as events turned out, things did not go to plan.

Lee Crawford and Scott Hardie enjoyed a welcome upturn in fortunes at Cadwell Park in the fifth round of the A.C.U. / F.S.R.A. British F2 Sidecar Championship, following a visit to Anglesey for round four the previous weekend which had proved somewhat frustrating. Their team mates, John and Jake Lowther had a more productive trip to North Wales, but less so at their "home circuit" in Lincolnshire.

T.L. - I know this may seem a bit "premature" given the race report from Anglesey has yet to be published. However, with tight programme deadlines to work to, Mark had to write a piece prior to round four, due to there being "back to back" championship events on consecutive weekends.

Welcome to the preview for the fifth round of the A.C.U./F.S.R.A. Formula 2 British Sidecar Championship in conjunction with our series sponsors for this year: ARC Newton Aycliffe, Lockside Engineering, Yorkshire Engine Supplies, Whitby Cottages, Pagid Racing and from the Isle of Man A.V. Craine and Sons. From all the registered competing teams and members of the F.S.R.A. a big thank you for your continuing support.
