Camathias Cup 2020 Information

Unread post by julie40 »

Hi Everyone

I hope you are all wintering well and are making progress ready for the 2020 season.

I would firstly like to start on a sad note in summarizing 2019 season. The passing of the founder of the Camathias Cup Dick Hawes was a very sad time for us all. Dicks smiling face, wit and willingness to help other teams will be missed around the paddock. It also goes without saying the passing of Kerry Williams was another sad time for the paddock. Kerry was a great supporter of the Camathias Cup, along with his loud shirts, smile and laughter, will be greatly missed around the paddock. Both great racers and supporters who will be sadly missed around the paddock.

Just a quick update for you all on the new upcoming season with the Camathias Cup Championship.

The race meetings and dates have know been confirmed and it’s looking like we are in for a fantastic 2020 season. Thank you to all those who took the time to reply to the questionnaire and I hope we have organised something for everybody, which includes a couple of new circuits this season for every one to try. As a committee we are trying to organise a different mix of circuits each year depending on your feedback and circuit availability.

We will start the season off at Croix en Ternois on the 11th/12th April with both classes running together. There is also a track day on the Friday for those who want some testing before the race weekend. Entry forms are available by the link on the Camathias Cup web site.

Then it is on to our first of the seasons new circuits at the Ring Djursland during the 1st/3rd May weekend in Denmark. This is the first time that the Danish Classic TT will be held and the organisation have organised a host of events for the weekend. Visit their web site ctt.ringdjursland.com for information of all events planned. Entry forms will available on the Camathias web site soon and both classes will be ran together in the same race.

The third meeting will be at the popular road racing circuit Hengelo in the Netherlands on the 9th/10th May. This will be the week after Ring Djursland so teams can make a bit of a holiday by doing the two race weekends back to back. We are the only classic sidecar race there that weekend. Entry forms will be on the Camathias Web site by the middle of February and both classes will run together.

The fourth meeting of the season will be at East Fortune in Scotland for the 35th annual running of the Bob Mac meeting 20th/21st June. A lovely track organised by fantastic people. Entry forms will be available in February.

Race meeting number 5 is the second of this season's new circuit, and what a circuit it is, Spa Francorchamps. These races will form part of the Bikers Classic weekend and it will be the first time ever that there has been a classic sidecar race on this circuit. Too big of an opportunity to miss so get your entries in early as this may get oversubscribed. The entry forms are on the Camathias Cup web site for download.

Race number 6 is the ever growing all things sidecar, The Sidecar Revival at Cadwell Park 8th/9th August, and entries will be available on the BEMSEE web site in February. As normal we will be the only classic sidecar race at this meeting.

Race 7 is at the ever popular and fantastic road circuit in Gedinne 21st/23rd August in deepest Belgium. This meeting is fantastic and again is well organised and a friendly feel to the weekend.

The final race of the season is at Donington Park on the 5th/6th September on the National Circuit organised with the BEMSEE club. Again entries will be via their web site. Usually there will be an end of year BBQ and Camathias Cup party to celebrate yet another fantastic race season.
