Didn't they make a four valve GS for one year before calling it a GSX?

Not that I remember. The GS was twin valve and round cam ends, never seen a 4 valve GS (but have seen GS Katanas).

The TSCC (twin swirl combustion chamber) was the gsx thing not GS.

Dad raced a GS which ran brilliantly, switched to GSX the next year which destroyed itself.

Correct steve, I ran GSX valves & springs in my Puma Weslake engine, stainless steel.
All the Suzuki based Top fuel dragster engines were based around the GSX engine, air cooled.

In some countries what we called a GSX was still called a GS
