Hi Phil, If my memory serves me right the damper like yours was an engine damper off a car.I am sure Terry and John Crick used car dampers maybe off the BMC range.

The damper John Crick and Terry Windle used, was an engine/ transmission damper from the Austin/ Morris 1800.
The damper on your bike looks like a std Koni unit with the spring removed, but they often only have compression damping and no rebound damping.
I think that the car damper was much shorter than the one on your bike, best to check before ordering one.

Your right Howard.
My Windle had the small dampers on both sides of the swing arm
That is a Koni shock with the spring removed as Howard say's.
