No carbs at the sidecar TT
I didn't realise sidecar racing had got to the point where the racers were so serious about their diets

Re: No carbs at the sidecar TT
How many teams are affected by this? Is it a handful or loads? (I'm out of touch with this stuff, even when I was racing I didn't really know what was going on).

Has this decision come from the ACU or from Isle of Man politicians?

From the TT organisers by the look of it.
The changes to the Sidecar technical regulations for TT2016 have been instigated by the Race Management Team.

Re: No carbs at the sidecar TT
Back to the question though, how many teams last year ran carbs? How many were planning to this year?
How many European - or further away - teams don't know about this and need it pointing out? I feel I should put something on the front although I've already said on there "read the regs, the rules have changed" - but you know how it is, people don't.
From the look of facebook this evening, just registering for the TT online is like an IQ test for quite a few

I didn't read that, sorry steve. so politicians. How would you say that rule reflects on regs for mainstream F2 racing?

Re: No carbs at the sidecar TT
Don't know about mainstream but it's almost like a poke with a stick at the non-injection FSRA with the post classics and 350s
I do want to find out how many were still running carbs at the TT. 5, 10, more? Really don't know.

I think you know where I'm coming from on this steve?
The ACU must have had an input in this.

As far as I know Steve, it effects Alan warden, me, maybe Pete nutall?. Not sure who else.

Re: No carbs at the sidecar TT
I think there were only 2 or 3 teams on carbs in 2015. Still a bit inconsiderate to spring such a change with only 4 months notice. Nearly impossible for a team to acquire new engines, convert and test to ensure the required reliability. Nothing wrong with a reliable carb motor, much better than new injector motor with insufficient testing.

Re: No carbs at the sidecar TT
Petes bike has a ireson with injected Suzukis in now, rules been put in place by tt enthusiasts not politicians this comes up every year when there's a rule change last year it was good coz they let the triumph in keepin up to date with super sport reg now there stopping engines that are pretty much 15yrs old I might be wrong on age but won't be far off (super sport reg is 8yrs old ) not many could keep up with that can throw in moly rob fisher 110 on carbs but the people (no offence ) that are runnin carbs aren't doing 110 or anywhere near unfortunately the only thing I could say but am sure there are reasons why could of found out the other side of xmas.

Re: No carbs at the sidecar TT
It had to happen sooner or later but they shurely cant just drop it on the teams who were planning to use them.

Re: No carbs at the sidecar TT
Karl Bennett says "rules made by TT enthusiasts not politicians" why would that be most TT fans want to see bikes racing and probably don`t care whether its carbed or injected, and as Chris Wells says "nothing wrong with a good carbed motor" is this just another change for changes sake rule, the way its going I can see another set of "real" TT enthusiasts (the teams that scrimp and save and sacrifice) just to be able to take part being forced out. I have always been amazed by the actions of the numpties who govern our sport,we need to encourage teams not try and stop them
