Round 5 East Fortune 15&16 August 2015 FSRA F350/Post Classic & pre-injection Sidecar Championship

Not too much to say about this round because due to a variety of reasons from machines not being ready injuries and the travel costs only two championship contenders entered joining ten other teams contesting in the Melville MCC club championship.
Perfect weather conditions helpful and friendly hosts made a great weekend. So it was down to Tony Wheatley with his brother Neil on their dads TZ 750 Ireson Yamaha and myself with Mark Edwards on the FJ 1100 Yamaha. Two practice and two races on Saturday and another two races on the Sunday for £205 and trophies for all four races is good value by modern day entry costs.
The results for all four races were the same with the TZ beating the FJ. Good news is the TZ is now sorted and no DNF’s. It just leave’s the last round at Cadwell the weekend of the 12 and 13th of September.
I hope that the entries for the next round for this new championship improve. Eleven teams have taken part so far this year with seven being the highest and this round the lowest. Encouraging me is that I have been contacted by another four new teams building and resurrecting eligible outfits for next year.
Sidecar racing away from the British and Classic events is slowly dying out at club level for all sorts of reasons, from the high costs to the age of most of us. This new FSRA championship only being the few of us, but we have bolstered the hosting clubs entries making it more worthwhile for them to hold a sidecar race event, thank you for the support so far.
And a big thank you to the Melville club for inviting us and making us most welcome.
Last round Sept 12/13 Cadwell Park with the Derby Phoenix closing date 29th August
