Darley Moor has a new paddock road - but!!

Darley Moor - if you're going there this season be warned that they have laid a new paddock road (not the whole paddock, just the centre road) right from the entrance to the collecting area.

Whilst this is a vast improvement it has speed humps all the way down which our outfit couldn't get over - we had to lift it each time. Most f1/f2's will just about clear it j reckon but watch your toes drivers! And as they've only done the centre track, the edge is quite a step and for virtually its whole length (from entrance gate to collecting area) it will be too steep for sidecars to get up - regardless of class.

Best advice would be to get all the way down to the far end of the paddock on the concrete next to and past the collecting bay - or bring some planks for ramps - I kid you not.

Sounds like a waste of time and money to me, speed bumps that cannot be negotiated by Sidecars beggars belief. ?

Did anybody ask why the road has been built like this? The staff at Darley Moor are very approachable. But if some outfits can get over it....how low is your fairing?

Our classic beached on the frame on the bumps and it is quite low.

However - to try and get up on to the excellent new Tarmac (it is very good!) from where you'd be parked in your awning, then you're faced with a couple inches of what is effectively a curb that would damage your fairing.

The new bit of Tarmac is a great improvement don't get me wrong, just make sure you park up some where where the curb is manageable.

Last time I was there they had karts racing. They'd love it

I know, the karters will not like them at all, however due to the previous really poor paddock road they all usually parked right down by the collecting area so didn't have to negotiate the previously terrible paddock road - so sidecars better get down there as well.

I agree with Haynsey, the new road is a great improvement on the old, rutted and potholed one, but it does need to be negotiated with care. I noticed that some people who are in the know had taken blocks or planks to get them up and down the kerb. Our BEARs outfit coped with the speedbumps but not the kerb. The speedbumps end just before the entry road to the diner at the moment, so there is plenty of hard standing available near to the collecting area and past noise-testing as you approach the airfield.
