Is it only me or do you think Slow Phil would have made a far better commentator for the radio when the slidies were racing? Got to be better descriptions than 'a metal bar'....that will be one of the passenger handles then

or 'that bit where the passenger sits'....do they ever 'sit'?
Let's have some thoughts and see if we can get some weight behind it, it can only be good for us having an enthusiastic and knowledgable bod on the microphone.

The commentators are Manx nowadays. Fred Clark was good at Ballaugh then Ramsey. He told me in 2003 he felt a bit out of place so made that his last year. Fred was like Norrie was for MCN.He would go around the paddock talking to and listening to people. As he does now with BSB.

It's not hard to do the homework. How for the whole tt did Roy Moore have Phil Hyde on with shandie? That's not just not going to the paddock, that's not even updating the programme.

Re RM not knowing about Phil Hyde, while the excellent Michelle and Sarah will know about the change there is no link from the race office to the media office. Or if there is, there's no link to Manx Radio. Tim Glover was giving 'additional' non-starters based on observation from the commentary box. His predecessor Charlie Lambert complained about lack of info. Equally there needs to be some onus on a withdrawing team to notify the race office. I think the commentators do a really good job, these 17 minute laps don't give them much time to mention down the order.

That's pretty much what I'm saying John. He's there to commentate, surely the least to do is have up to date information, not just rely on the programme he gets given weeks before. In the whole time he was there he didn't go to the race office to check he was up to date? I have on occasion here called John Holden 'Dave' but only when tired and have put it right as soon as I noticed
The start list for the RACE had Frank listed on it, so the race list was up to date.
As for Bob the Builder being"Lockley" I kind of like that, quite Robin Hood
