For the remaining 2 meetings at this Welsh seaside track, we desperately need some sidecars to enter. Yesterday we had only 5 entries, one of which never participated due to problems with a spindle. The bottom line is this is not sustainable as there were solo riders turned away as classes are oversubscribed. I do think the organisers would be reluctant to replace slideys with another solo class but if we show no interest it will happen. For any one who is not familiar it is a mile long track, no real left handers, basically 2 very fast bits and 2 very tight right handers. outright lap record held by Tim reeves@98 point something. I you were to enter you can stay at the circuit from Friday morning until Monday evening with a short walk to the beach and railway station which will take you to the nearby resorts of Twyn or Barmouth. To stay on any of the nearby sites would cost you at least 20quid a night,so all in all your entry fee aint too bad. It is also one of the few I know of who allow dogs in the paddock. so please please give it a try as we would hate to lose the sidecars at Tonfanau. For info and regs call Lee or Yvonne 01270583593. Hope to see some of you there in july.

The July meeting on Sunday 5th has a Parade of Exotic Racing Machines, and the Guest of Honour this year is John McGuinness.
Entry is only £95, so that does allow a bit of diesel for your trip out to the Welsh Coast. (Not quite as far as Anglesey) You get 2 practices and 3 races. That is good for novices and bike testing! Track is short and bumpy, with no lefthanders, but if you are getting National signatures, it is good as races are only 8 laps, 5 to 6 minutes. One time, the gentlemanly Craig Hauxwell let me cross the line in front of him not lapping me when I am very sure that he could have.
Entries close 21st June. Download here

http://www.tonfanauroadracing.co.uk/#!r ... ship/c1z79 Class is open sidecars. The club is really friendly and helpful, and Arthur the machine examiner usually comes round the paddock to check the sidecars, either on the evening before, or about 9am on the morning.
If you are not in a Cheshire and North Wales Centre club, you will need to pay a tenner for membership. Last meeting is on August Bank Holiday Sunday 30th August. Please come - it would be good to have some new faces, and you will be made very welcome.

The committee are considering whether to give a discount to new sidecar competitors to encourage a larger field. I will let you know as soon as I know.

hope you get a good response Katie, it would be a shame to lose such a good and friendly club, but as in this world where the big conglamurates seem to rule the roost sometimes folk don't see the picture and they seem to forget if it wasn't for clubs/circuits like this where would our future stars come from, after all we all have to start somewhere to learn the craft and our lesser known circuits are the kingpin of racing to learn and develop the skills required to progress to national and international level, otherwise it will cost more than an arm or leg to participate, so in the end the sport suffers.

only 3 entered so far. most solo grids are oversubscribed. Would be a sad day if the venue is lost to sidecars but does not look good.

We did them all last year and this year so far, so we're doing our bit.

Jody and Ben, who I met at Aintree, can't do this Tonfanau, but intend to do the August one, and Lee and Steve (who I also met at Aintree) and blew their engine, will do the August if bike fixed by then. So it seems Mark, Terry and me so far this time. Let's hope you have decent luck this time, Terry, and you too Mark - at least neither of us are likely to crash into you!
