Thanks Simon Crellin. Wednesday 25th June 2014

ACU EVENTS ANNOUNCES CHANGE IN REGULATIONS FOR 2015 SURE SIDECAR TT RACES

ACU Events Ltd, race organiser of the Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy, has announced a change in regulations for the 2015 Sure Sidecar Races following consultation with race promoters The Isle of Man Government, Department of Economic Development.

The regulations governing engine capacity will now follow solo Supersport regulations, which mean that for the first time in the F2 Sidecar class three cylinder 675cc engines will now be eligible. This will give teams the option of using power plants such as the Triumph 675 and MV Agusta F3 alongside the traditional four cylinder 600cc engines.

The 2014 race meeting, which featured a return to open regulations, saw race wins for Dave Molyneux and Patrick Farrance and Conrad Harrison and Mike Aylott, with Harrison and Aylott securing the overall TT sidecar championship.

will this be adopted by the ACU for club F2 and FSRA for British F2?

I've heard people say they produce bags or torque. Is that the case? anyone with experience of building these on here?

A move in the right direction, but why not 1000cc twins also ? It would give the class some much needed variety, and the option of using more affordable engines.
Personally I would like to see two strokes reintroduced, but that is never likely to happen.

Couldn't agree more Howard. 500 banshee would be a nice tool.

Can't see 1000cc Twins being let back in Howard, that would certainly be "egg on the face" of a certain F2 rider who was instrumental in getting them banned in the first place. Ironically, banned because of the Sidecar TT!

Ive always thought a bit of variety is a good thing. From the TT promoters piont of view they need to make things as interesting as possible to the public There are not as many sports bikes selling as in the past so this will open things up a bit. The sound may be a bit more appealing than a load of screaming 600s as well.

Better get to the bottom of Bray nice and early to get a good spot 'cos I can't see them getting to Q Bridge before the gearbox or the crank jumps out.

CBR 675s Nick. That would be cheating. They would have an extra cylinder.
