After years of listening to the 'Iresons are too heavy' comments we put ours on the weighbridge at Mallory.
211kg without bodywork. Anyone got figures for other types?

2008 F2 LCR with bodywork +/- 225Kg

Is that wet or dry,TT tank or short circuit?

Is it as important now that we are all running more powerful torquier (? ) engines?

Thats ready to go with 10 ltrs fuel.
Power to weight is always important.

My TZ 350 outfit in 1992 had a dry weight of 140 kg, and produced 79 bhp and 28 lb ft torque.
The power to weight ratio was 551.
An outfit weighing 225 kg would need to produce 127bhp to have a 551 power to weight ratio.
Todays lap times prove that the far greater torque produced by the four strokes, is much more important in sidecar racing than BHP.

I slightly disagree with the maths Howard as bikes aren't raced without riders.

Add 152 kilo (2 x 12 stone riders) to the 140Kg of the bike and you get to 292Kg for a 350, and the 225Kg of a 600 then becomes 377Kg.

then the 350 works out at 79bhp/292kg = 0.270bhp/kilo

a 600 to achieve the same would be x/377=0.27 --> 377x.0.270 = 102bhp

I do agree the torque helps, but that looks a nearer number to help explain how much quicker a 600 is with 2 riders on. Interesting game though is changing the weight of the riders and seeing how much power you would need to keep up - I can see why bikes got slower with me on

just out of interest how much does an F1 weigh?

I've heard it said that an F1 with a 600 engine won't work as they weigh too much. Surely they can't be a lot heavier?

My f1 cripled me for a week after lifting it on 2 a block a shand f2 is a doddle to lift

According to the LCR website an F1 weighs 225kg with a 190 bhp motor this gives 0.844bhp/kilo or with two twelve stone crew gives 0.503bhp/kilo

My daughter and myself have a combined weght of 17 stone on our 350 hows that for power to weght ????

Since everyone keeps asking me in the paddock, I'll try to weigh my MRE this weekend.

The F1 with 600k8 have the same weights with F1 with 3liter fuel and my F2 LCR 217kg.
I drive at the moment a F600 projekt an have lot of fun in the race and I faster then a F2.
