Hi, wonder if the fsra or other interested parties could help with these thoughts on eligibility. Having taken a trip into the armco at the festival last year with my old Baker, it's been a debate whether to bother to chop it up or do something more creative as it's not really worth renovating as an F2 having been converted(badly) from a 350. I think it's an early one as it had TB 014 stamped on the headstock and its 10" discs, 3 rib AP calipers, 6" front/chair rims etc.
Here's a thought. My brother and I have a T500 Suzuki solo that a friend has raced successfully for a long time, so we have loads of spares.
Would this outfit with this engine be eligible for anything at all? If so would it have any chance of competing against other outfits? I've seen some Youtube video of something similar being raced in Europe, not sure if it was front exit though.
Any comments would be welcome as it seems a shame to scrap what I've got if it could be used in another life.

Could put a 350 in but I've got a shed full of Suzuki T500 motors, heavy but lighter than a GT750 and loads of torque. Just don't want to spend a load of time on it if it's not eligible or vaguely competitive.

Just make sure that a hole is not being dug with allowing machines of 'Special Interest' - I'll say no more

Best thing to do is speak to the reps, see the FSRA website.

The fzr started in 1989.The regs seem to imply air cooled.
Period 2 Multi cylinder and car derived engines may be up to 1300cc four strokes of a type that started production by 1984 e.g. Air cooled GSX, FJs, GPZs etc.

First,No the Yamaha FZR is NOT eligible in any capacity,as Steve states, read the rules.
Second, yes a T500,would be eligible, however,I doubt,it would be competitve against the outfits currently racing, unless that is your an extremly talented driver. If you just want to have some fun,and not spend a great deal of cash, then go for it.Youll be warmly recieved, and the Post Classic/F350 lads are a freindly bunch.Or,you could sell the T500 stuff, and put a YPVS engine in,have some fun,and be competitive.

I think anyone writing rules for classic racing has an impossible job. To me a GPZ900R would never be a classic but it is.. and I'm sure when the people writing the rules were jotting down notes it was in 'that era'.
Post classic, what exactly does it mean? The FSRA Post Classic regs are quite clear, I hope they don't succumb to mission creep. There will in 30 years time be a dozen different periods of classic racing and everyone trying to work out how the bike they still ride on the road is already a classic.
The best any club can do is fill their grids and make sure the racing is fair and even.. it's racing not a concourse exhibition. If it was a concourse things would be very different.
The FSRA regs are the ones they run to, and it's up to the FSRA reps to decide what is in or not. Leave it to them to work out what should or should not be in, you really wouldn't want their job

Look at classic car racing.particularly the international series for F1 cars, and the sports cars.Thats how to do it.That way whatever someone owns if it has an FIA passport, there is a series it can be competitive in.

just look at the results of last weekends Gedinne races, in P2 there was a T500 outfit racing which in the race on Sunday came in 2nd place.
the Post Classic race was run only a little later in the same weather conditions.
The total race time of the T500 would have placed him in 5th place in the PC race...first two were TZ 500´s, nr. 3 was a weird 1100 Guzzi rear-exit outfit and only one F350 outfit would have been in front of the T500 in 4th place...
