Pete Essaff and his wife Adi Greenlaw on the ex-Rob Verrier Ireson. Pete's been around a while. Has multiple US national AMA sidecar titles (as both driver and passenger) and even managed about a season and a half of passengering in the F1 World Championships in the early 90's (mostly with Streuer). Pete has lived about half an hour away from Loudon for nearly 20 years and knows every inch of the track intimately. Pete and Adi hold the current F2 lap record on that Ireson (and believe me we tried really hard to take that away last weekend, but could only get to within 3 or 4 tenths of it). Lots of fun to race with. Even gave my passenger a playful nudge in the rear end half way round the 100mph left off the end of the front straight.

I'm not sure that's a wise idea since your competitors would be in those massive NASCAR stock cars (and they don't seem to be shy about "rubbing"). Also the "run-off" is rather non-existent if you get it wrong.

Seriously, we have been trying to convince the track to allow us to do a 10 minute demo using the oval and a few of the infield corners during one of the NASCAR events when they have over 100,000 fans in the stands. No luck yet but we keep trying. 8-)

Bruce,

We had even a better race on Saturday. They let us have the full 8 laps, and 2 laped outfits going into the last set of turns before the start/finish straight with all three of us going for open track made for a very exciting finish! We were 2ed on lap 6 and managed to slip by down low and win the race.

In the old days the AMA ran 16 laps at this National event.

I'm honered to get to run Rob's Ireson. We didn't change much so he could still give it a go when we head north for a race.
If you haven't seen the Rick Merser Report you should look it up on utube. Rob was driving it for the race part of the show.

Peter
