I have grow to love this event and make sure our trip to the IOM includes the first 4 days among the classics at Castletown, what I seem to forget is I grew up with the Hardy brothers (Ron and Pete) and their Yellow IMP racing round my local circuit Aintree and no doubt Mr Apple must have been there at some stage or other.

EDITED BY SE , by reporting posts.

The mid evening sun was blindingly intense and as the outfits passed the pits towards Ballakeighan and must have been quite frightening for all the crews to drive into a total Black out,,,,I was scared and I was just spectating.

Immaculate machines as expected, this one a 998 MRE B.M.W Raced by Wally Saunders and Passenger Eddie Kiff.

No1 machine was driven by Nick Houghton a super dooper 996 Windle B.M.W. But expired after 4 laps on race day.

Machine No5 is a 1170 Bellas Imp as raced by Eddie Wright who went on to take the overal victory by almost 1/2 a lap of the Billown Circuit.

Sidecar No11 was a 744 BSA Driver was Nick Cutmore, but failed to make the start.

Dougie Wright was my pre race favourite but didn't make the grid ?
Image

After qualifying 10th on the grid at a circuit I am sure they have never seen before, Guido Reichmuth and Zita Gwerder went on to finnish in 8th place,
I was so pleased for this crew to make to journey to the IOM and have a great result . Well done.
Image

No 17 Andrew Bailey and Ian Beaumont on a 980 Bellas B.M.W, a 7th place finnish will ensure they return next year..
Image

Sidecar No14 is local crew of Albert H Price and Dicky Gale on a Brasic 750 Yamaha, they also didn't make the start coz Dicky was washing his hair or summat.
Image

Outfit No 8 is that of Mr Dick Hawes ( who knows his way round this circuit with his eyes closed) apparently. Jason Crowe was the passenger.
And a 6th place finnish..
Image

Charlie Cope and Louise Nichol on a 998 Windle Imp only managed 3 laps before retirement in the race.
Image

Eddy Toombs and Bob Dowty on a 980 B.M.W claimed a secure second place on race day.

I will make a point of chatting to all you guys next time round or if I get my finger out I might be fit enough to have a run round on a circuit I never really got the chance to race on.
