I think money talks better than words Geoff, it's the same with the TT, the influx of big business and money bags millionaires etc will eventually stiffle the TT and southern 100 making it no compromiso, i hate to say it but thats business

Pete, I just hope when they have sucked every last ounce of joy out of life, they will be happy counting the money.little pierre wrote:I think money talks better than words Geoff, it's the same with the TT, the influx of big business and money bags millionaires etc will eventually stiffle the TT and southern 100 making it no compromiso, i hate to say it but thats business

So nothing will be imposed on the organisers. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm why am I not convinced? Who passed this gem to the Manx papers and if they're 'in talks with the organisers' why hasn't the Southern 100 club put something on their website? I hope I'm wrong but the wording in the online piece STINKS.

Re: Southern 100 Changes?
The dates have been kept for 2013.....but is that only because they cannot get the legislation changed in time?
Apart from postponed TT races, have any road races been run on a Sunday on the Isle of Man? Am I correct in thinking that legislation would need to be enacted to allow Sunday road closures?

Re: Southern 100 Changes?
When the seaman's strike in 1966 caused the postponement till late August, the sidecar race was held on the Sunday, I think! for all the top runners had previously entered for the Oulton park international the following day which was the August Bank Holiday. So if it was possible then..........unless my memory is playing tricks

Re: Southern 100 Changes?
The Government consulted the motor sports clubs a couple of years ago, telling us we would benefit from Sunday closures, it would enable us to have more flexibility, extend meetings, etc.. I was on a rally committee a the time. We completed the questionnaire against Sunday closures, as we felt they might want to move our rallies from Thurs/Fri/Sat and Fri/Sat to Sat/Sun and shorten the events...
