.....I could have a one thousandth of the man's talent - engineering and riding.

and the same sentiment for some home grown stuff..

Must add also Florian Camathias & Fritz Scheidegger
Riding a bike on opposite lock by controlling it with just the throttle for me is the most magical and exhilarating sensation ever

Even just thinking about it now gets me all tingly

Surely 2 of the greatest. Helmut came back from a terrible accident at the Nurburgring which killed his passenger, to design, build,
and race the fantastic URS.
Chris Vincent was without doubt the most spectacular and talented sidecar driver of the 60's. He bought a BMW outfit. but the BMW
factory in Munich made sure he never got the parts to make him competitive. This prevented him from bringing the World Championship
back to England. George O'Dell eventually did it for us with a Yamaha, with the help of Terry Windle and others God Bless You George,
we will not forget you.

TWO GREAT SIDECAR MEN. Helmut overcame a massive accident at the Nurburgring which killed his passenger and badly hurt him.
He the went on to design, build, and race the fantstic 4 cylinder U.R.S. [a four cylinder four stroke]
Chris Vincent dominated British sidecar racing in the sixties, and won the T.T. with Eric Bliss on B.S.A. in 1962.
He bought a BMW outfit from Fritz Scheiddeger for an attempt on the World Championship, but the B.M.W. factory in
Munich made sure he never got the quick parts as he was an Englishman. He therefore never brought the title back to
England.George O'Dell won it for us eventually, on a Yamaha helped by Eric May, and Terry Windle, plus his passengers Kenny Arthur
and Cliff Holland We shall never forget you George THANKS MATE.......... 'YOU PAID A HIGH PRICE IN THE END'

Eric Bliss is the passenger in the Criss Vincent photo.
Chris made a comment in the M.C.N. that he could win with a sack of potatos in the chair. However this was a response
to a comment the week earlier when Pip Harris's passenger Ray Campell stated in print he only won because he had the quickest bike.
Despite Chis's statement we all noticed he always used a TOP ballast man ie Eric Bliss,Cliyde Gough, Terry Harrison,Peter
Williams, and others. It takes two to win. There are many great passengers who never achieved the recognition they deserved.
I SALUTE YOU GUYS.

Great photos and I think they were both taken at Brands. CV has got the rear tyre smoking but on page 139 of Mick Walker's sidecar book he has got the BSA in a fantastic drift round South Bank.
Dick as an early passenger you do yourself an injustice. A few more names to conjure with that are worth a mention: John Flaxman, Keith Scott, John Thornton, Wally Rawlings, Rose Arnold (Hanks). All rode with some of the best.

Hmmm, CV with the rear smoking on South Bank - that was always an awesome spectacle whether just spectating or being behind him o(r in our case being lapped there!) He did oversmoke it one day just there and ended up seriously clattering the bridge parapet, he was OK but the the bike was taken back to paddock in several bins, well not quite literally but is was bad.
