Urgent...2012 Newcomers
Posted: Wed Jan 04, 2012 11:17 am
The next Sidecar Newcomers weekend is 24,25,26 February,
and I urgently need to know who is coming, as Sophie in the TT office will be having holidays soon and we want to get your flights/crossings etc booked before she goes away
.
Just to clarify: If you are a newcomer passenger or driver and have not already had a trip here paid by the TT organisers, you are entitled to have your travel paid.
Accommodation is offered, free of charge, staying with slidey people here.
There are a couple of cars available here for laps... let me know ASAP if you want me to see if I can get one for you. These are NOT hire cars and are lent by individuals, so the principal that nothing corners like a hire car etc... does not apply
!
Mentors... experienced TT drivers and passengers are arranged... there are lots of them here... surprisingly enough... and they are always happy to oblige by going out for laps with you and sharing their knowledge.
Non-racing drivers... one of the things I am trying to avoid is accidents/arrests caused by temporarily forgetting you are not racing or practising but learning the geography of the course on OPEN roads. Therefore I have found a couple of real stars who are happy to drive you round and round the TT course until you are dizzy, without accidentally taking the racing line. This is a generous offer, and, believe me, if you meet an oncoming car, or get sent to Jurby Jail, you will wish you had taken it up.
Having an independent driver frees you and your mentor to think racing, without taking the risks.
When you book, please give me your name / address / name of your driver or passenger / email address and phone and/or mobile number. Tell me if you want to travel by boat (with small van or car) or fly, and if flying, which airport. All this info will be shared with Sophie, so she can book you on the boat/plane you want.
Finally, and MOST importantly. ALL correspondence, PLEASE, to helenbmerry@manx.net.
I get Facebook messages, messages on here, PMs here and obscure messages all over the place. I am easily confused, so ONLY emails... I can file those and keep track.
You will find that is the only way you can get in touch with the TT organisers, so practice on me...OK!
