Unread post by malcolm aldrick »

Does anyone remember Dennis Keen’s 8 cylinder Konig he ran during 1976-77 (I think)

Are there any photos of this outfit hidden away?

Sounded great when all 8 pots were on Song!!

Remember seeing it at Mallory Park in 77 I think at the Race of the year. The second engine was in board of the main, on the passenger platform. turned round through 180 degrees so
the drive sprockets could be matted together. The 2nd engine then ran anti-clockwise, it sure was both a sight and a sound. Sadly I have no photos but I know Dennis is still around
will try to find out if any exist

Photos would be good but an audio of it would be even better 8-)

You bet Richard!! Saw it once, can't remember where, Mallory or Oulton I think, but never heard it run. I think Dennis was entered with his son as passenger and I don't think they raced. Dennis was working on it when I saw it and I take it the problem was major.

Classic outfit with a truly classic car in the background :D
It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!

Wow, That photo brings back fond memories, Dennis you may not remember 1974 Snetterton (Old) Norwich straight hairpin our (Hadleigh Honda) forks broke and you managed to get round the outside before we hit the "Litarge" on the run off road.

If you;re reading this Dennis I hope you are keeping well.

sadly the likes of Dennis are missing from current racing  I remember late 70's / early 80's Dennis rarely ever raced coz he was always trying to fix something or push it around the paddock!! I have memories of a 4 cylinder Suzuki Triple??????? But then again, I am getting on a bit now so maybe i am wrong ;)

Hi, just came across this old thread, I passengered this outfit once, we were riding his old 680 Konig, or not, as usual it was broke, he lent us the "Doubler" to do Gaydon. We started with 7 cylinders, were down to 5, then it ran a big end, I remember the straight seemed a lot shorter that day! We took it in dead worried, he was quite happy to have it go then, time to fix it before a bigger meeting the next weekend.
Sadly neither Dennis or Royston are with us now.

Hi thanks for the post waited a long time to see this photo did see it in the flesh at the race of the year 1977 at Mallory park biggest problem Dennis had was using the Norton /AMC gearbox which couldn't take the power eventually he cut the gearbox of a 750 Honda which solved that particular problem, as soon as that was done the ACU banned anything over 4 cylinders which rendered the bike obsolete, before his sad death my son& I managed to purchase all Dennis's Konig kit includes what was left of the (8) engine bike.
