Hello mate,Peter was my mechanic as i said before,he was round the circuit at the start line doing his signal duties etc, fond memories, shame they have stopped this event,i can remember Geoff Cannell commentating at the start line absolutely gobsmacked at the speed of the 250 superkarts along Peel promanade, top meeting.a very unique event which i am extremely proud of being part of and lucky enough to win :trophy:

I've only saw carts three times in my life and each time was by accident, ie I wasn't at a cart meet. The first was at the Rest and be Thankfull Hillclimb in the early '60s and there was one cart there with a 650 Norton in it. It didn't win but it went quick for sure but seemed to be a handfull. The next time was in Malta in the early '80s. We had met up with a couple of Manx boys who invited us to a race meet at an old wartime airfield. It was sprinting really but there were carts, bikes and cars all racing down or returning up the old airstrip. Little did I know that the cross runway was a part of the local highway. An old lady came tootling accross in her '55 baby Austin and missed getting hit by a flying bike. Well, you never saw a place empty so quickly, asked a Maltese guy who said this is an illegal meet, the police are on their way, get out as quick as you can, never saw a cart run. The next I saw was again in the '80s at Knockhill, it must have been a mixed meet, it was 250 carts and was extremely fast and exciting to watch. I guy called Dave Buttigieg(forgive the spelling) won, he was brooodily quick. Maybe Bruce you remember him. Whatever became of him, he would have been good on a slidey. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Hell, never knew you did this Bruce. You woulda raced pretty close to my front door at the time (up by the chippy in Chruch Street)

Do you remember an Irishman doing it in the 250's? Paul Maguire his name was, he seemed pretty handy.

cant remember Paul Maguire ! i remember most of the 250 superkart drivers, perhaps he was on a 250national,single class.
I raced the Kart GP from 1986-90 then TT from 91-2009.
In 1986,Moly took his outfit round with Colin Hardman in the Chair as a demo.
