Just wondering what peoples best TT memories are :-

Mine are

1) Watching Jock Taylor my hero do that 108 mph lap. Was so smooth and and so much quicker than anyone at the time.
2) Moly's first TT win with a friend of mine on the chair with him. All the best up there Colin matey.
3) Hearing the stories of the greats and how nothing really ever changes. People always saying the greats of their time are always better than the current ones. But people seem to forget people like Steinhausen, Fath and one great sidecar passenger by the name of Wolfgang Kalaugh :notworthy: :notworthy: . Just hearing the stories for me is the greatest thing.....

So over to you for yours... :D

I to have great memories of Mike Hailwood the first man i saw coming down Bray Hill in 67 on the Honda 6 then out at Barragarrow you could hear that 6 screaming in the distance and in a flash it was gone, like Peter said the 78 TT when he caught and followed Phil Read, the atmosphere was magic :D

Ah memories :D Only ever been to TT twice, '62 & '67. '62 - two outsiders winning, CV in the sidecar and Derek Minter in the 250 race, superb. Bob Mac coming over to talk to me in the tea tent after a chilly morning practice because I was all on my own. Must include the truly magnificent sounds of the Japanese & Italian multis, unforgettable!

Dick's hit it on the head................nothing beats the first time you are let loose on the course. I couldn't stop giggling for hours afterwards. Finishing a race and then getting a replica come a close 2nd and 3rd.

Other notable memories apart from personal ones?
1. Hailwood in '78 takes some beating.Sitting up at the Bungalow in sunshine, watching and listening to it happening, amidst thousands of others up there.
2. 'Sideways Sid' - Siggi Shauzu flat through Hillberry on a right hand BMW outfit around '75 or '76. The sound! The slide!!! :o
3. First ever bike I saw at racing speed on TT course - Mick Grant on 750 two stroke Kawasaki, flat through the bottom of Bray Hill. That left an almighty impression on me.

Its a shame that the numbers aren't like they used to be. You used to have to get to somewhere on a Friday for the Mondays race just to get a good spot.

Loved Brandywell, you could hear them coming and strain to see them come around and up towards you just listening to it was amazing enough. The old sit up style and none of this hanging off like a limpet lark.. :D

Great days and some happy happy memories... keep em coming .......

My first ride in a helecopter from the 32nd to Nobles Monday morning 98. At least I missed most of the rain that year. I escaped on Friday afternoon and was persuaded to go to the Manor for two pints with our lot , Vince Biggs and Roy Hanks. We got back at four in the morning ,racing had been cancelled on the Saturday due to the rain. Ive never been that drunk on crutches and it cured the constipation. The very very best memory was in the Sidecar "A" race 92. Our last board was at Windy corner. It had 1+ 48, couldnt beleive we were actualy going to do it. Back at the Grandstand it didnt seem real. A long time ago now though.
