Re: Subaru Demo Lap.
I have never been able to understand what an organiser is trying to acheive holding race car demo laps at a bike meeting......What is the point ?
I recall a BSB meeting at Knockhill from around 10 years ago when they presented a ten year old Formula 3000 with shagged out tyres to do a couple of demo laps, even though it was a bit damp the driver ( Jim Russell ) managed to get round the track some 10 seconds a lap quicker than the bikes,,and what made it worse was every man and his dog came out to watch this machine make the bikes look stupid.
Mark Higgins is a dammed fine driver , but his explanation of what happened IMHO was due to luck than skill,,,,,simply watch it again but this time keep your eyes on his eyes.....
Regards

Re: Subaru Demo Lap.
Presume the raison d'etre at the TT was to obviously demonstrate the vehicle and thus encourage sales. Bit daft not to mention pointless methinks as 99.9% of those watching are not remotely interested in owning a ton up tin top

Disagree Bob, I'd love one if I could afford it, and a lot of the age group now that can afford a toy bike for the road can afford a toy car instead.

Re: Subaru Demo Lap.
If a demo lap was part of the package for Subaru to supply the course cars, so what? If you don't like it, don't watch it (plenty of people have the same attitude to sidecars). If it generates a bit of money that doesn't have to come out of the competitors' budget I don't see a problem.
Personally I would have liked to have seen it, especially the 'moment' at Ago's Leap.
And don't forget, the TT was originally for cars!!

Re: Subaru Demo Lap.
I watched the first lap, purely out of interest to see what lap time he'd do. But thereafter I couldn't be bothered to get off my bum and take a look. I'd have rathered the laps (or at least one) were done from a standing start though.
The 3 things that bother me are:
1) why does there have to be 3 or 4 'course inspection' cars out all the time on closed roads too? Is this part of what Subaru pay for?
2) does this now open the door for a regular 'TT Challenge' and will we be subjected to different manufacturers paying to beat the current record each year?
3) How did the navigator not even flinch?!!! I need to learn that trick!
