Hi Bob
Any idea what year the b&w Brands shots are. I might from my records be able to pin down who is in the top photo. They all look as it thet were taken at the same meeting, from the club enclosure next to the main grandstand.

Think that they were taken '66 or '67. Some obviously are paddock shots the others would have been taken on the approach to Paddock Bend near the old ambulance gate.

Thanks, I have cracked it.
May 29th 1967, Evening News International.
From the top - No. 20 Roy Pike and a certain Dick Hawes 490 Triumph. They finished 5th of only 5 finishers in the 500cc race. Colin Seeley and Ray Lindsay No. 9 on their 500 BMW retired when lying third. Helmut Fath won.
In the 1000cc race Pip Harris with John Thornton in the chair led a close scrap with Chris Vincent and Fred Holden (No.2) and Terry Vinicombe and John Flaxman. The result was a dead heat between Harris and Vincent with Vinicombe third and Alan Sansum and Bob King 4th.

Many thanks for the idents Gary

That particular meeting was always a big international on the calendar as many of the continental teams (solo including all o the works teams and sidecars) stopped off on the way to the TT for start of practice week - it was a way of topping up funds with start and prize money

Should have been on the side but was out due to a damaged foot as a result of falling off a scooter

I suppose £40 for winning the sidecar race wasn't bad in those days.
Strangely there wasn't a huge entry in either the 500cc (11 or which 2 DNS) or 1000cc (18 of which 8 DNS). Perhaps all the money went to Mike Hailwood.

I was still at school so that would have been a lot of pocket money.
