I love that first clip where the narrator says "the engines are built to tight specifications" .... cue bloke hitting exhaust with a hammer.

I recently found my childhood autograph book from those times - used to go to Oulton Park every Easter for the Transatlantic & as to many other meetings as we could ... thought some on here may appreciate the list of signatures I took great pride in collecting :)

Barry Sheene (several times, he is my all time hero!!), Tony Rutter, Joey Dunlop, Graeme Crosby, Richard Schlacter, Dick Greasley, Chas Mortimer, Alex George, Geoff Duke, Mick Boddice, Ron Haslam, Mick Grant, Roger Marshall, Dave Saville, Jack Middleburg, Charlie Williams, Mac Hobson, Ken Birch, Tom Herron, Steve Parrish, John Newbold, Barry Ditchburn, Dave Aldana, Dale Singleton, Kork Ballington, Randy Mamola, Jock Taylor, Steve Baker, Stan Woods, Wayne Gardener, Wes Cooley, Eddie Lawson, Kenny Roberts, Pat Hennon

Some great names there from racings glory days, remember seeing all of them at some point. Same here we used to attend Oulton Transatlantic every year and also the Mallory round ....... as well as all the British championships.
Gotta say that the best American riders to watch (apart from KR the King :notworthy: ) were Wes Cooley and Dave Aldana, especially on those 'sit up and beg' Yoshimura Suzuki 1000's :notworthy: :notworthy: ...... Dave 'skeleton leathers' Aldana :notworthy:

Is it just me .... or was racing for both solos and sidecars much better back then, not only to watch but also to participate in ?? or am I gettin' old ??

Had the pleasure of meeting Dave Aldana 2 years ago at the Beezumph Rally at Cadwell Park where he was riding my friends Rob North - what a lovely man, so modest and willing to spend time. He along with Gene Romero made it a great weekend. In fact meeting all the riders from the Trans Atlantic races was an honour

In those days, I thought everyone could watch the races from the pit counter, but that was down to my lovely dad who had friends everywhere that would always let us in to watch
