Hey my dad has brought a f2 Jacobs I’m trying to help out and sort it.
Need new tyres what do you guys recon someone said to get Avons but use a yoko front.

To be honest I have no idea, also where do I go get them whose best

An F2 Jacobs ? Any pictures of it ? What motor does it have in ? (just being nosey !)

If your dads bought an F2 Jacobs I hope he has strong arms. I can remember at Brands in 94, Rob Cameron was having his first ride on a Jacobs. He was thinking of buying it. After a few laps he came into the pits and stopped in front of Rob Fisher and me (we had both just won TTs on similar bikes), the shocked look on his face was worth seeing. There was only one Jacobs built that wasnt heavy to steer, that was the last one ,built for Tims dad Howard. Its now owned by Steve Ramsden.

In the nicest way possible I’m not letting dad read that, he has done both his shoulders in racing his kr 250
don’t let him know its hard work I keep saying its easy lol

if it is heavy on the steering it could be possible to reduce the trail
either by moving the wheel back or steepen the headstock angle, running it in a wall isn't the best method

Ok think I get that.
Still trying to get him to sit in it.
He never wanted to race sidecars but a mate of his wants to passanger so dad agreed to do it.

I'm pretty sure that outfit started out with an FZR 600 motor in, which Mick Staiano bought brand new in 1993 from Colin Jacobs. Then Dave Porter bought it four or five years after, which is when the Kawasaki motor was put in. If nothing else, those outfits are solid and built to last.

Yeah that sounds like it still has the Kawasaki in it think the half the reason dad got it.

colin built my short bike in 89 it was the only one he ever built with no top tube's that was not heavy on the steering brillant bit of kit i ran it till 2006 and never had one crack or any trouble at all proper frame builder!!

Your bike was an earlier type to the ones he built from 92 to 94 Dick. Mine and Colins own were the first ones I think they were all built with Yamaha long stroke engines and the motors were pushed right up to the steering head. The first time I rode mine was at a British championship at Oulton. It was a lovely bike, like a work of art, Colin spent so much time building this, the first one. It was heavy to steer though especially getting off the long Jacobs (a proper bike Dick ) . It did the job though. We had to build a short bike for the TT that year and we won, Colins hard work had paid off,but it was havy to steer .
