Was Jeff Loveland racing in the late eighties / early nineties, i remember watching sidecars then and if my memory serves me well and i have the right chap, he was, how can i put it very comitted  I remember going down to the start line at Brands and he just lit the back tyre up and left a huge black line compared to the others, and i thought cool and watching him and his brave passengers through the corners was a great memory, which made me think i have to have ago at this sidecar racing :D Although it took me awhile i got there and what fun it is!!
Although i'll be watching from the grandstand as well for most of this season
Anyone got any photos of racing from that period would be good to see!!

There are a few stories about Jeff. Ruth Laidlow used to passenger for him. I once raised my voice at him (OK, slightly worse than that but it's late) . He was a proper character, Madeyes Loveland. He started racing about the same time as me. I started passengering in 1990, and we kept ending up in the same bars (OK you would call them 'race circuits' and doing that racing thing and then going for a drink. I was passengering Dave Hoskin in 1990/1991 and Jeff was coming through the pack pretty quick at the time. I think Paul Woodhead might remember cos he must've been with Chris Wright about the same time. I know ChrisA will remember, and he'll tell you some stories :D
I remember passengering Ian Browning (Bru) around that time, and him trying to get me to buy a bucket and spade for Jeff after he put the LCR in the kitty at redgates at a supercup/British/whatever it was at the time.. :D

I remember Jeff having engine trouble ar Snett and he changed the engine and wanted to test it out, As it was very late he took the bike to the scrutineering bay and closed the doors thinking it would be quieter, but the scrutinnering just reverberated with the noise and made it worse.

When Jeff stopped racing he got into sea fishing, I can remember his picture in one of the Kent local newpaper (think it was the Kent Messenger) when he caught a massive Cod.

Dave Lockyer is still about alive and kicking. He sponsored me from 95 (gave us his converted coach that we used to run) till when we finished World stuff. Dave runs an Mot garage with his brother in Chelsfield nr Orpington, Kent. Still see him pretty regular, he is often at Brands and Lydden meets.

I remember being in the bar at Mallory the night before a meeting and someone packing up and going home when they heard that Jeff was racing there that weekend.

At Snett Jeff and Roger Lovelock lapping me either side of me down the back straight that quickly I thought I must have another gear

Was it not Jeff & Mike Skidmore with "antics" at Snett & Mallory that nearly led to a ban?
