Geoff, contrary to the tone of my previous post, I do think it's a good idea.

Those were the day's,LOL.
The sounds of different engines & the different configurations, heaven to the ears.
There goes a Bee em, then a Gilera, a Weslake, then an Imp, followed by an MV, then a Norton , then a BSA followed by a Triumph, then a Konig, then a Suzuki kettle, wow, a Cosworth Ford, then a Saab diceing with a Wartburg, followed by a Twin engined triumph
plus a home made OHC BSA, nearly forgot about the Reliant engined outfit. A twin engined Ariel 2 stroke followed by an NSU & a Cresent etc, etc. Not always in that order!!!!!
Then the ACU stepped in as usual & cocked everything up, again & again & again, helped by a few influential sidecar racers.
We were then left with a choice of 4 japaneese engines that all sounded the same, except for the over bored one's
& now Bingo, you have a choice, all be it a limited one.

I reckon its great using triple engines, cant wait, cant see em returning to 1000 as they were banned due to being to fast then (1989) .

Wrong andy, the 1000 twins wern't banned because they were too fast, they were banned because the ACU didn't want 1000cc racing at the TT. Sounding like a stuck record, again, they were banned from the F2 class soley because of the once ayear TT.
The ACU Technical Committee first banned fuel injection, so the writing was on the wall for the 1000cc twins. The fuel injection ban was in 1993, I still hav e copy of the letter I wrote to the Technical Committee back then. There were 2 high profile F2 sidecar racers on that Technical Committee back then who had a agenda to get the 1000cc twins banned.

I like the triples idea. I did expect to hear a few people complaining about it but I've not heard one real complaint yet.
I do wonder what is going to happen with the British Championship (and of course the worlds) if the TT regs continue to go further away from the current British regs but I'm sure that's already being discussed.

Oops, see next post.
-------------------------------------------
All been discussed a long time ago.......................
The twins would need to be 750cc if you were following the Supersport logic. 1000cc twins would be much too powerful now (unless they were limited to air-cooled).
There was a hit record by The Hives a while back called "Hate to say I told you so."

I would say 1986 - Nigel Rollason & Donny Williams on the Barton Phoenix?
