He had been sold it as a 1990 chassis, but it was a 1985 as it was our old bike as well as being Binghams, Dixons etc
Im sure there is a lot of people out there wanting to race F1 but cant due to injury and the riding position and this might be the only option for them, surely sitting like this will loose a lot of front end grip though?

Dont agree with you Bill,
Too many people with your views up high have stopped progress with sidecars.
If there had been more inovation allowed Im sure the car guys would have been involved and things wouldnt be in the state they are nowadays and im sure there would have been some wonderful creations
i.e
NO sidecars running in Scotland at first meeting
NO Scottish Sidecar Championship

There's a question of how far do you let things go, and it's unusual that it's taken so long this winter for it to get going, we're normally well into this by November
No matter the riding position it wouldn't handle like a car, probably lift the chair more on lefts? I don't know if anyone can remember what this one was like.

Pity because Doug Young's T500 'go kart' would be outlawed today, another piece of ingenuity and forward thinking. Anyone got any pics of said beast?

LCR1000 I'm not against progress in any form except the definition of sidecars. The kneeling position had to be legislated to determine what a sidecar was and I'll defend that. I'm the guy who campaigned on here to get unusual outfits on the line in classics, remember. We've got to retain certain things tho', three wheels, alignment of the wheels, riding position and passenger involvement(ie not to be sitting still in a seat). After that it's free for all in my mind.

I don't agree that the kneeling position had to be regulated. I do agree that handlebars and seatbelts would be too far. I see no reason for not sitting feet forward.

I wonder if they had to move the chair wheel back far to keep grip on the front?

It's not an F1 Sidecar, I agree.

However, most club championships don't run F1 regulations they run "Open Sidecars" and there is nothing in the current ACU - B1 or B2 standing regulations that makes that outfit non-compliant.

There you go Geoff, nothing to stop you coming back racing now.......

we all have problems enough. We dont need more inovation. We tried this all when it came to the first long bikes, 2 classes B2a/BsB later F1 and F2. The direction will go in a different way for sidecar racing. It always was something special to ride a sidecar, and it will be so in future.
One point of a sidecar is, foot behind the knee.
Even if handicapt peaple can race sidecars so we dont need changes.

Personally i think, as others have said, some fundamentals regs must be the same across the board no matter the class and IMO feet behind the knee should be a given.... reverse it round would the FIA allow someone to run an F1 car with the driver in kneeling position??.......

Bikes have knees behind and in front of the feet, they don't have steering wheels. That's a fair rule. I take it the knee position thing is an FIM thing then from DS post.

I designed a feet forward outfit in 1970...can I have it replicated and race with CRMC...??? It's true(but it was more like 1974 I designed, nothing ever came of it, got the idea somewhere) but I'm joking..not even thinking of it....however I have seen pics of some very old feet forward outfits...!!!

Steve, sorry mate I've been hidding in the cupboard under the stairs with me tin hat on since the first few comments (read garage for that) Still an interesting one though. I put this up on the NHCA farcebook page with a few interesting results........the biggest comment being provided it had motorcycle controls ie handlebars etc.. wouldn't be a problem......along the same theme as Rob Williams aprilia powered trike.

I'd still be the happy recipient if you've got it hidding in that dis-used barn............
