It is with great sadness that I must tell everyone That Peter (ole' man) Jones died on Thursday the 14th of June. He was life long motorcyclist, racing enthusiast and proud member of Team Walters And Thomas Sidecar Racing.

His Funeral will be on Friday 29th of June at Cwm Taff Crematorium, Pontypridd. The The funeral cortege of bikes will leave the Navigation Hotel in Abercynon at 11:40. Naturally Peter will be traveling by sidecar.

Drinks and lots of stories afterwards in Brownys Bar Abercynon.

I met Peter, (who I knew as Pete the polisher) at the TT when he was introduced to us and the Canadian team by Keith and Alun. Petes duties with TWATS at the pre TT classic were over so he joined in helping with the sidecar. Very quickly we realised Peter was an asset to the team as in his modest and understated way he not only cleaned the bike, he spotted potential problems and sorted them out as he worked. I didn't get to know Pete as well as i would have liked but I felt moved to say what a privilege it was to work with Pete in the TT paddock. RIP Peter

Extremely sad to hear this. I first met Pete when Team Walters And Thomas Sidecar Racing adopted me in the TT paddock on my first visit to the TT in 2012. As he quietly and efficiently went about his cleaning and polishing and whatever else needed to be done, he gradually educated me on how I could help here and there. Pete and the team (and their friends, including Andy King and Ricky Lumley) made me so welcome that I returned in 2013 and 2014 and finally, with a lot of help from Andy, Paul, and Ricky, Jeff and I entered the TT in 2015. I was overwhelmed at Pete's generosity when he voluntarily associated himself with our team and came by every day to eventually make our F2 shine, I'm sure, brighter than when new. Despite repeated attempts to reward his efforts all I ever managed to get Pete to accept was my profuse thanks and a few biscuits. "Best to avoid idle hands" he would say with a shrug. Someone I'll always remember fondly. RIP Peter
