Longest partnership?

Unread post by steve-e »

What team has had the same driver passenger combination for the longest time? Without a different passenger?

This came up as until a few weeks ago, Matt had never raced with another passenger until yours truly put his fat arse on the back  that's twenty years of only ever having Ade on in a race.

Wasn't this question discussed quite some time ago? [wave.gif] I can't remember the final outcome but I know Rod Bellas and Geoff Knight were one of the pairings [uglyhammer.gif] mentioned.

If you mean a driver riding without any stand-in passengers during the time, then I'm guessing that twenty years is going to be difficult to beat. I know Rod and Geoff rode together for many years, but Rod has definitely had other passengers in that period (Geoff did a season or two of driving in the mid 80's, and I remember Rod having a couple of stand-in passengers in later years too - Jeremy Snowden, Eddie van Beveran, Steve Taylor). Similarly with Dick Hawes and Eddy Kiff.

Without a break is the key point. I'm sure there are others who have been together a long time, or raced together again after a long break :-)

I'm asking because I can't think of anyone, the usual "more experienced" named come up but most have moved around at least a little.

Just asked Sue Longmore and John has had a couple of stand-in's when she wasn't able to race - so not the longest standing.
