bmw gearing

Any ideas on how you work out the gearing on a BMW outfit,my mates is overgeared and we were wondering how you work out what lower final drive part you need do the numbers give a clue, he`s running 12" wheels

over geared what ratio is he running now .i run a 12inch rear and a33x11 bevel and i was miles undergeared

that was at chimay which has a quite long straight

He said he has a 33/11 and is overgeared, I`m confused !!!

Maybe you all need to agree on the meaning of over/under geared? Could also be a disparity in power/torque (stock 500 vrs a tuned 1200)?

Overgeared to me is cant go flat out in top, undergeared is revving its nuts off
