CRMC Castle Combe 21,22, August

Hi CRMC /Vintage types. We raced at castle Combe last weekend with CRMC and since then a local photographer from Wiltshire has made contact. I dont know the guy other than by email but he has sent some cracking images through. If anyone wants photos of them racing (Sunday I think as he didn't have a...

Photos at Bemsee sidecar revival Cadwell 7/8 August.

Hi all. A retired friend of mine came to the above and took over a thousand photographs. He is an amateur photographer, not looking to make any money out of it but has offered that if anyone who was racing wants a memento he can look what images he has got of you and send them through by email. He i...

Re: Sidecar screen

Thanks for replies re screen, despite your excellent advice on here and by whatsapp etc I suddenly remembered I'd bought one from Meadspeed in Milton Keynes before, so a call to them and bobs your auntie, I supply measurements and they supply screen. It's not specifically for sidecar, actually a 196...

Sidecar screen

Does anyone know who sells the small perspex screens typically fitted to the CMRC/BHR/Camathias sidecar nose cones, the screen that fits on the top of the nosecone where the oil cooler often lives. My son bashed his helmet on ours and cracked it a few weeks ago when he was having his first time pass...

Passenger seeks accommodation in Slough

Sorry, nothing to do with sidecars this so maybe I'll get a public rogering for posting in the wrong place. My oldest and possibly oddest son, 20, is studying Chemical Engineering at Birmingham University and in July 2020 is starting his 'year in industry' at a Chemical company in Slough, trying to ...

Trying to get my son to Gedinne on Thursday22 or Fri 23 August

Hi People. Is anyone travelling to The Belgian Classic at Gedinne by car on Thursday 22nd or Friday 23rd from Yorkshire/East Midlands or similar. I say car because if my son fell off the back of a C90 or similar I'd never forgive myself. My son lives between Sleaford and Lincoln, +is hoping to get o...

Re: Venolia piston ring sets for 1970's BMW 750 twin

Just to box this off in case anyone searches for Venolia pistons and rings in the future.... it turns out that they have ceased trading, but if anyone still runs Venolia pistons, then the rings Venolia use are also American; Total Seal who are still trading and have a UK distributor in York called P...

Re: Venolia piston ring sets for 1970's BMW 750 twin

Howard, thanks muchly for the information, and for taking the trouble to respond.I shall be trying the Yeovil contingent on the morrow. Be nice to keep the old nail running a couple of more seasons before I buy a proper money pit in a final attempt to finish in the top ten in a niche avenue of a wei...

Venolia piston ring sets for 1970's BMW 750 twin

Hi fonts of knowledge. I can use a 13mm ring and open ender but I am no engineer. Our BMW 750 has Venolia pistons and is down on compression, from 150psi a couple of years ago to a paltry 95psi now. One thing we are looking at is rings but I am struggling to get two ring sets. It has 82.9mm bores, s...

European Classic Meetings

Hi all, we cant make Gedinne or Chimay this year as they clash with other non sidecar stuff. Would anyone recommend any other classic race meetings on the near continent for a 1960's outfit? Spa looks too far (van getting a bit tired) Roads or Circuits are fine, Netherlands, Northern France, Belgium...

I've got the best sidecar

Before we got a sidecar I really wanted one but I am such an impulsive knob (apparently) and so was concerned that when I bought one I would then find another that was better and would immediately regret my purchase. So I was determined to be really careful. So anyway, inevitably we bought the first...

Suart Cains / Bill Curvis

Does anyone know Stuart Cains or Bill Curvis? We race an old 1960's Owen Greenwood 16" chassis which I think they maybe used to campaign (seperately, maybe one sold it the other or similar) when it had Triumph power. I am trying source any interesting history, photos etc, just for a bit of nost...

Re: Trying to date our Owen Greenwood sidecar chassis

Thanks so much for the replies Roger, Phil and Bob, yes this is all fitting together now, the outfit we have sounds like it may well be the one mentioned by you Bob and Phil, as ours did have a Triumph engined fitted when it was campaigned by Steve Hicks, France based. Crikey this is turning into a ...

Re: BMW 'bean tin' ignition unit replacement

Hello Dick, no I have spectacularly failed to source such an item despite a bit of googling etc so I would be very much obliged if you could help. Sorry Dick, we are still fairly new to this game and despite me recognising your name I rather stupidly cannot place you, are you at crmc or bhr rounds? ...

BMW 'bean tin' ignition unit replacement

Hello three dimensional carbon based life forms. We use a BMW r75 flat twin in our old big wheel kneeler outfit. It has Boyer ignition with a crank end trigger so the original bean tin ignition is redundant but still fitted and not too pleasing to the eye.... Does anyone know of a 'blank' to replace...
