Re: Cyril Smith/Edgar Peacock Sidecar
Mark, Got Steve's note about your post ("Thanks" Steve), and was about 3/4 of the way through a reply when it disappeared. I fear it's gone as i can't find it anywhere, but if by some chance it did get to you, please let me know and I'll finish it. If you got nothing from me, please advise, and I'll ...

Graham "Kipper" Layfield Contact?
Hi Guys, Ladies,
Am restoring the '58/'59 Cyril Smith/Eric Bliss Reynolds framed sidecar purchased and later raced by Edgar Peacock (ref. "Cyril Smith/Edgar Peacock Sidecar", thread in this forum). Trying to determine if there was a passenger hand hold (surely there must have been?) and its size ...

sidecarpeter, gvh,
Thanks for your posts. Finally getting back to "normal" after holidays and back to work on outfit next week..
Peter,
Great story about Cyril's '52 outfit. The older and creakier I get, the more I'm convinced that unraveling the histories
of these things may be the "fun" part ...

Re: Cyril Smith/Edgar Peacock Sidecar
Hi sidecarpeter,
Apologies for delayed response to your posting. Am working on the outfit in a small town about 250 mi. from home and the town is in the process
of moving its library, so no internet connection there until 05JA15. At the moment I'm in another location for C'mas, and their library is ...

Edgar61/Michael, tonybsa,

Re: Cyril Smith/Edgar Peacock Sidecar
Hi Michael, Thanks for message, and #3 photo ID. Am working with some photos for Tonybsa to (hopefully) resolve a final drive sprocket "conundrum" (doesn't align), and have some others of the bike revisions I should be able to send to you, shortly. "New" sprung rear frame has been tacked into place ...

Re: Cyril Smith/Edgar Peacock Sidecar
Hi Michael,
Thanks for your post! Great to "meet" another family member. Expect you have a few/many memories of your Dad's outfit.
If you've probably been following the discussion at all, you know I'm almost completely "in the dark" about it after Cyril sold it to your Dad. Actually, it was the ...

Re: Cyril Smith/Edgar Peacock Sidecar
Tonybsa: "Thanks" (again) for the Edgar, Maty, Richard stories. They help explain some of the "wounds/bandages" on the bike.
As for the sprockets, if they're alloy, I'd be interested (how pay Richard... Paypal?). If they're steel, probably not, as
expect postage cost might be as much as the bike ...

Hi Helen,
Apologies for slow reply, have been on the road (no I phone

"Thanks" for your post/suggestion. Will do, and will definitely tell
him you sent me as expect it will add a lot of credence..
Does your avatar's crash hat have Snell approval?
"Thanks" again!

Re: Cyril Smith/Edgar Peacock Sidecar
Tony,
Just wrote a "long winded" reply with some history and "Thanking" you for all your trouble, but computer won't let me submit. Hope this works. Think David Ogle is fellow I got the bike from, and if so, it must have been Edgar's at one time (unless Edgar's was NOT Cyril's '59 outfit?).

Re: Cyril Smith/Edgar Peacock Sidecar
Ianw, Tonybsa,
Thanks for your interest in my sidecar conundrum.
OK, photos: Everything relating to the outfit is in another location, so can't help at the moment.
Plan a visit next week so will try to post some if I can find a computer set up to send.
Tony, how "cool" that Edgar's widow is ...

Re: Cyril Smith/Edgar Peacock Sidecar
Hi Mr. Wright,
"Thanks much", for your reply, which somewhat surprised me - at first. I then seemed to recall Cyril saying something similar, but adding the qualifier "...on smooth tracks", when asked about the change from '58 to '59. That it was in the process of being changed back to solid (never ...

Cyril Smith/Edgar Peacock Sidecar
Guys and/or Ladies,
Am looking for information and photos of the Reynolds framed sidecar Cyril Smith raced in '58 and early '59, until he retired and sold it to Edgar Peacock. It was built by Ken Sprayson, and originally (in '58) had a "solid" rear (no suspension).
For '59 it got a more ...
