Re: What model

This does look vaguely familiar from many years ago. Did it originally belong to Jack Wynne from Rochdale?

Re: Trying to date our Owen Greenwood sidecar chassis

Correct Tony. It's rather frightening to think this photo was taken 15 years ago - even Tony Bannister looks young here!

Re: Trying to date our Owen Greenwood sidecar chassis

I am hoping a photo will appear with this reply. It is the Owen Greenwood Triumph outfit, as he raced it with the VMCC. The photo is from VMCC Darley Moor, Aug. 2000 when Bill Curvis was the owner/rider.

Re: Trying to date our Owen Greenwood sidecar chassis

I think you have misunderstood me. We seem to talking about two separate, different, outfits here. Owen's big wheeled Triumph outfit, later owned by Stuart and Bill, cannot be the one which you have as that was set up specifically to race with VMCC/BHR with 18" wheels and was sold to someone in...

Re: Trying to date our Owen Greenwood sidecar chassis

That big wheeled Triumph outfit is still around Phil. It was owned and raced by Velo man Stuart Cains in the mid-late 1990's, then ownership passed to Bill Curvis who raced it for a few years. I think that Bill then sold it to a European team. At this time, it was very much as Owen had built it, wit...

Re: Anybody Read This Book?

Yes, I have read it. I would say it's mainly useful as a reference book - if you are interested in the older stuff. Quite good if you have an old chassis or body from the '30's, or earlier, and need to identify it. Not much about racing and Geoff (the author) is the first to admit that he knows litt...

Re: derek brindley info history sought

I agree 100%, Fred. It needs doing now, while there are still folk around who were personally involved. This way you get first hand information and all the good background stories. Another 20/30 years and all the details become mingled with 'myth and legend' -and so much harder to research. Don't le...

Re: One for Daph.

No. 10 Eric Creaser, (499 BSA) is still around and keeping the supply of vintage bits flowing. No.23 Bill Lomas, (no, not that Bill Lomas) had a thriving wheel building business in Oldham some years ago but I heard that he was no longer with us. No.47 Robin Williamson was riding the big engined Manx...

I don't know how you are wearing them out this quickly John. Such extravagance.
Mine are secondhand (ex solo) and I am very upset if I don't get at least 2 more seasons use out of them.
