Re: How to recycle an old mobile phone as a GPS laptimer.
We did something similar, except we were looking for data-logging. Discovered our aftermarket ECU offered real-time data-logging via a serial port and also a serial port to BlueTooth converter (since most laptops even back in 2010 no longer came with serial ports). The software for the laptop and ...

Re: Cadwell Park Sidecar Festival ....
Hi Mick, good to see you are still around! Sorry, can't help with your question as my only experience was (not) sleeping in a race van in the paddock at a regular race meeting. Hope you and Karen enjoy the festival again. That is my absolute favorite track (of the 20 or so tracks I was lucky enough ...

Re: F1 front suspension question. New here, don't know where I should post.
Have a chat with Jean-Guy Rattcliffe at CSR motorcycles which I believe is still located in Maxville Ontario. AFAIK he is the last one around here to construct an F1 chassis equipped with center hub front steering. Not sure if this contact info is still valid: Telephone: (613) 527-3183 E-mail ...

Re: exhaust wrap
I took a minor bump on the end of an aluminum can on an F1 and it must have miss-aligned the internals (which along with the wrapped headers) led to the can melting (twice in one weekend). If you think an un-wrapped pipe is hot, try having an open pipe ending just below/behind your stearing head ...

Also BLR in England, is he still actively building classics & F2s? (BLR from Scandanavia that built F1s is defunct AFAIK)

Re: 2020 proposed TT schedule
I actually found the darkness an issue, especially for new comers with a high number (60+), mostly on the 2nd lap (assuming schedule wasn't shortened and we got a 2nd lap). Problem mostly solved now buy outlawing us older new comers

Re: Active chassis builders
MRE now in France, seems to be mostly new classics and restorations lately, but I think he may be building himself a new pre-injection bike.

Re: New Racer Intro
Track down Pierre Rochat to see if he has the mold for your fairing. He races a Bombadier Twin powered P3 with VRRA and ARHMA.

Re: exhaust wrap
Pros: can help keep you or various important components on your sidecar from melting/burning, can make a really ugly pipe more presentable
Cons: can hide derioration (cracks/rust/etc.) of your pipes, yet another item you need to buy and periodically replace
Pro/Con (depends): increase in temp over a ...

Maybe you all need to agree on the meaning of over/under geared? Could also be a disparity in power/torque (stock 500 vrs a tuned 1200)?

Re: Aintree meetings cancelled
Our local club could not afford air fencing so they found a cheaper alternative which the insurance company approved. Basically it consists of the large bags (about 16 cubic feet or so) used to deliver earth or haul away brush. They are filled with empty plastic bottles with their lids still on. The ...

Re: Right Side Sidecars
There are a few tracks in the US that run counter-clockwise (off the top of my head Loudon and Laguna Seca). AFAIK all the rest of the major tracks in the US and Canada run clockwise (although some such as Grattan occasionally run race weekends "backwards"). Thus left-hand chairs are predominate ...

Re: Peter Jones
Extremely sad to hear this. I first met Pete when Team Walters And Thomas Sidecar Racing adopted me in the TT paddock on my first visit to the TT in 2012. As he quietly and efficiently went about his cleaning and polishing and whatever else needed to be done, he gradually educated me on how I could ...
