Mike Breitenbach would like me to remind everybody that he WILL be across at the TT - and remind me at the same time to update his details on the link on the right which I haven't done yet.
Mike I will get that done this week!

I also have to put on a load of reports including the World Championship from Le Mans - I just do not have the time like I used to for keeping everything up to date instantly.

    Hope you're all well!

Sleaford sidecar racer Gary Horspole has announced he is to return to the Isle of Man to compete in the 2018 TT festival. He has teamed up with former passenger Rob Biggs to ride a brand new F2 outfit built by Dean Ryde.

It is several years since Horspole last took part in the two three lap Sidecar races on the 37.73 mile mountain roads course along where, with his long time passenger Kevin Leigh, he enjoyed success. The pair rode to seven top 10 finishes including a second place in 2000 and two third places in 1998 and 2002.

General Secretary for the ACU and Clerk of the course at the TT Gary Thompson is a smart guy. Following the introduction of age limits in other classes at the Manx, Gary has introduced a forty year old age limit for all newcomers at the Sidecar TT. But it’s not all bad news as Gary explains.

Roy Hanks, with fifty (!!) TTs and ninety seven starts under his belt has to be the foremost authority on the sidecar TT, Roy is also a director of ACU Events Ltd and on this occasion doesn’t agree with Gary. These lads are close friends but sometimes you can’t agree about everything.

Ben and Tom Birchall took a record breaking Sure Formula Two Sidecar race win on Monday afternoon at the 2017 Isle of Man TT Races with the Mansfield brothers taking their fifth TT victory and setting a new outright lap record of 117.119mph.

Their eventual winning margin over John Holden/Lee Cain was 25.6s with Dave Molyneux/Dan Sayle holding onto third as the weather closed in on the final lap. It was the Manxman’s 30th podium in his 50th TT start.

The Birchalls made their intentions clear from the outset and opened up a 3.4s lead over Holden/Cain through Glen Helen on the opening lap with Molyneux/Sayle a further second behind in third. The Founds brothers, Alan and Pete, with Jake Lowther and Jevan Walmsley in the respective chairs, were occupying fourth and fifth as Tim Reeves/Mark Wilkes held sixth.

We have the times from Tuesday, the only session run so far.click read more.

Tonight's session (Wednesday) was going to be just round as far as Ramsey and then controlled speed back to the Grandstand just to get the teams some laps in and give them a chance to check set up due to adverse weather on the Mountain. The airmed can't fly at all now so even that has been called off.

    A frustrating week so far..

We are advising passengers to carry identification and check in early for sailings in response to enhanced security measures at UK ports.
The UK terror threat level was yesterday raised to ‘critical’, the highest level, following the Manchester Arena attack on Monday. As a result, some police services are requiring additional security checks at ports, including compulsory identification checks for all passengers and more vehicle searches.
These measures were introduced at Heysham on Wednesday afternoon.

Northern Ireland’s Paul Jordan has confirmed that he will be making his debut at the 2017 Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy.

The 25-year-old, who started out as a talented short circuit racer in the British Championship finishing third in the 2008 125cc British Championship and fifth in 2009, has spent recent years plying his trade between the hedges.

Having finished third in the 2014 125cc Ulster Grand Prix, Jordan finished second overall in that year’s Ulster 125cc Road Racing Championship before going one better the following year, winning the title, along with the Irish Championship, with three wins and five podiums. He also took fifth overall in the Irish Supersport 600cc Championship and was voted the most improved road racer of the year by the Motorcycle Union of Ireland.

After the disappointment of a non finish to Saturday's first sidecar race at the Isle of Man TT festival and a lot of problems during practice Mansfield brothers Ben and Tom Birchall rode a perfect race to take a resounding win in the second encounter on Friday.

Although the LCR Honda let go in the first race the Birchall brothers were delighted to find they had taken the lap record registering 116.798mph on the second lap. Unfortunately the unforgiving 37.73 mile mountain roads course took its toll on the final lap when they were forced to retire at Sulby crossroads.
