Round 5 of the ACU/FSRA British F2 Sidecar championship takes place at Croft on Saturday/Sunday 27/28 August Bank Holiday weekend

I hear plenty of comments from teams proclaiming there's not much racing on over some weekends in August... also around this time of year many F2 sidecar teams are starting to think ahead to next season. We often get asked if they can "test their toes in the water", so to speak and enter as a "wild card". The answer is "YES" so if you have an F2/F600 and would like to have a run out at Croft, now is your chance.

The A.C.U./F.S.R.A. British F2 Sidecar Championship entered the second half of its season at Cadwell Park last weekend - a favourite venue for competitors and spectators alike. The Lincolnshire circuit is one which has been a happy hunting ground for Team A.R.C. - with three British Championship podium places (including a win in 2015), numerous club wins and the Auto 66 Club F2 sidecar lap record - it was clear that the Newton Aycliffe based team would be considered amongst the favourites for honours at this meeting.

The Championship went to the seaside with a weekend visit to the Coastal Circuit of Anglesey's "Trac Mon". At the close of proceedings, the competitors have now reached the halfway point of this years six round series.

Overcast conditions greeted the competitors for the Saturday's opening practice session, as outfits from the Wirral 100 Club and F.S.R.A. Post Classic / Pre-Injection series along with the British championship outfits took to the circuit. The session was completed without incident. Issues reported afterwards included a handling problem for Crawford / Farrance: adjustment to suspension required, and a slipping clutch for Riley / Parker, which would be replaced after the qualifying session.

Following a seven week break to accommodate the Isle of Man TT, the A.C.U. / F.S.R.A. British F2 Sidecar Championship campaign resumed at Anglesey Circuit, North Wales on the 25th and 26th June. On the back of a hat-trick of podium finishes at Oliver's Mount the previous weekend, Newton Aycliffe-based Team A.R.C. arrived full of optimism in the hope of closing the gap to the championship leaders.

Lee Crawford and Patrick Farrance took a runners up position in the opening race in the second round of the A.C.U./F.S.R.A. British F2 Sidecar Championship meeting at Donington Park on the 7th May, and looked set to repeat the feat on the following day, until they were cruelly denied by an engine failure on the final lap of the event.

    fsralogo150

A total of fourteen teams took part in last year's F350 Post Classic and Preinjection championship and over this past year the interest has grown.

Hopefully the new teams who have either contacted me or shown interest will be out next year. Maybe a comment on this Forum stating their interest would be positive for the championship and supporting clubs.

    The 2015 F.S.R.A. • 2015 ACU/FSRA BRITISH F2 SIDECAR CHAMPIONSHIP - Cadwell Park

    fsralogo150
As usual, Cadwell Park served up a fascinating weekend's racing. Good weather, two more-than-interesting races, especially Saturday's and two new race winners. Neither championship was clinched leaving all to play for at Croft in three weeks time.

Yet again, passengers featured in the news with new pairings as a result of previous incidents with a couple more to add to the list this weekend. Pete Founds paired up with Jevan Walmsley, Jevan gelling immediately and they gained second place after qualifying. Sean Reeves/Mark Wilkes took pole, John Holden/James Neave were third, Alan Founds/Tom Peters fourth and Lee Crawford was fifth, Lee having secured the services of one Patrick Farrance in the chair.
