After the disappointment of a non finish to Saturday's first sidecar race at the Isle of Man TT festival and a lot of problems during practice Mansfield brothers Ben and Tom Birchall rode a perfect race to take a resounding win in the second encounter on Friday.

Although the LCR Honda let go in the first race the Birchall brothers were delighted to find they had taken the lap record registering 116.798mph on the second lap. Unfortunately the unforgiving 37.73 mile mountain roads course took its toll on the final lap when they were forced to retire at Sulby crossroads.

A star-studded grid will line up on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit for the second round in the 2016 British Sidecar Championship. Heading the line-up, just a couple of weeks before his isle of Man TT campaign, is Tim Reeves, who partnered by Greg Cluze on the Team E-Aide Motorsport Remse Racing Yamaha currently leads both the World and British championship chases after the opening round of each. Reeves has got the Yamaha sorted and was in imperious form at Oulton Park with a lights to flag victory. Sniffing at his heels, and out for revenge at Brands are the reigning champions Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood who, after a tentative start at Oulton, recovered to finish second.

Ben and Tom Birchall travelled to Brands Hatch to further their development of the LCR Honda 600 outfit by competing in the final round of the British F1 Sidecar championship at the Kent circuit resulting in two top 20 finishes.

Starting from a sixth row grid position for the start of the first race the start was delayed to allow for a shower of rain to pass through. Subsequently the race was reduced in distance from the scheduled 10 laps down to six.
