The final round of the British Formula one sidecar championship made its' way to the 2.4 mile Brands Hatch GP circuit in Kent.
Havant's JH Racing Cat Finning sidecar team of driver Ben Holland and Rayleigh based passenger Lee Watson were lying in sixth spot in the championship. They were looking forward to ending the season with some solid results.
Qualifying in fifth spot the first race nearly ended for them before it had begun. With their gears sticking on their Kawasaki powered machine they had to make hasty repairs before the start. Not only that the rain started falling whilst they were lined up on the grid and tyre choice was also a problem as the track wasn't completely wet. The race was reduced from ten laps to six to allow time for the tyre choices to be made. Although the problem still continued they managed to finish in tenth place.
The ten lap race two was a much better race for them and showed that they can race with the best when they don't have any technical issues. A good solid start saw them finish in fifth place which moved them to fifth place in the final championship standings.
Afterwards Ben said "It's been a trying season with some good results but the whole team have stuck at it. I would like to thank our sponsors for their help this year." Lee added "We have proved that we can run at the front so we will see what next year brings."
